A Kentucky man whose state conviction sentence was shortened by former Gov. Matt Bevin last year has been arrested on child pornography charges, officials said Tuesday, according to NBC News. The man, identified as 24-year-old Dayton Jones, was serving 15 years in state prison for a 2014 sexual assault charge before being released by Bevin. According to federal prosecutors in the Western District of Kentucky, Jones now faces a charge of producing child sex abuse material, which carries a maximum prison sentence of 30 years.
This prosecution is about one thing and one thing only, Mr. Jones conduct in harming someones child in the Western District of Kentucky in violation of federal law, U.S. Attorney Russell Coleman said in a statement. It serves as a reminder that despite these uncertain times, Kentucky families are well-served by some inspiring federal, state, and local law enforcement professionals that put themselves at risk to protect our kids, Coleman added.
Tuesdays charges are connected to the sexual assault Jones was convicted for in 2014. In that case, he pleaded guilty to charges including sodomy, wanton endangerment, and the distribution of material depicting the sexual performance of a minor. Jones allegedly took part in filming and sharing the video of his participation in the assault of a 15-year-old boy and shared it on the social media platform Snapchat, The Hill reported. According to local authorities, Jones and several others assaulted the boy with a sex toy while he was unconscious at a party. The assault resulted in injuries to the victims colon and bladder.
Despite pleading guilty in the original case, Bevin pardoned Jones sentence in December 2019 because he believed there was no evidence linking Jones to the crime outside of the "testimony of kids who were getting a better deal by throwing [him] under the bus," the Courier-Journal reported. The same set of facts are being used to prosecute Jones now.

(35,390 posts)Went back, found some other charge from the same evens so the bad guy he was proud of catching could be caught again for the same bad thing.
Headline makes it sound like he's relapsed. While he probably would, preventive detention is an iffy matter.
Entire thing reeks.

Insufficient evidence when there were videos?
Was Matt Bevin another pal of known pedophile, Jeffrey Epstein, like our president?
This story is sickening except for the part where we learn this particular pedophile is back behind bars where he cannot hurt another child.
