My Dumb Trumper Sister: "We have to reopen the country! We can't go on like this!"
NO TESTING. Nothing. Just let people mingle again and cram them into wherever again. She's bored, she says (retired) and she wants this to be over.
I brought up testing. She said "well they don't know how, they have to develop these things!". I told her S. Korea, Singapore and many other countries had massive testing going on within 2 weeks. WITH ABSOLUTELY NO VALID EXCUSE GIVEN, we have not done that here. If they can figure it out, so can the US. She says: "well this country can't go on like this, it will get destroyed!" I told her it will be more destroyed if we just open it back up. Everyone will be infecting everyone else and the hospitals will be massively overwhelmed and it will be even more expensive than keeping things on lockdown. This will drag out much longer too, and they'll have to shut down again. She says: "well, they can't shut it down again! They don't shut everything down for the flu!" I told her this is much worse than flu and it's killing people and unlike the flu, there's no vaccine or treatment.

That is how I always felt when I was still in contact with my sicko mother and even more sicko stepfather. Both are extremely misogynist and extremely homophobic, but swear up and down that they are not. They tried to lie about their votes on Amendment One in NC, but I looked it up at the local precinct level and the only two votes against it were my aunt and I. So, I know for a fact they were lying. They have the same Trump mentality, but try to pretend they don't. I can tell by everything they say that they are Trumpers and of course, very misogynist and homophobic and ok with other horrible stuff that would get most prisoners killed if they were in gen pop.
I'm so glad my aunt was around when I was a child. There is no telling what my mother would have put me through without my aunt to try to use diplomacy to rescue me from that horror. I miss my aunt since she died last October. I don't miss my mother since cutting all ties in November to end the abusive crap both she and my stepfather were inflicting on me. My car runs again now too. So, my stepfather not messing with it and a real mechanic taking care of it means I can go anywhere at all, or could until this Covid-19 thing happened. He kept me hobbled with that crap he was doing to it, including blowing out my spare tire, for almost a year. I'm glad the abuse is over.
That head smashing thing. Yeah, I understand that feeling. It is frustrating. It is hard to understand how family can be so ridiculously stupid, but for some of us, that's how it is. I don't think a lot of people don't have to deal with it truly understand how frustrating it is.

She has a Master's degree in art, is a fucking AMAZING artist, but has always been a bigot. A racist fucking bigot. What a waste. She used to be a Democrat, bragged about supporting Eugene McCarthy - but THEN a BLACK man came to office and she switched on Fox News with her racist bigoted husband. The rest is history.
