Prices aren't going anywhere until those full tankers parked offshore EVERYWHERE start unloading in force.

I'm driving fifty miles less a week.

Got the gas for .19/gallon. We have never paid so little. We are both 61.

30-35 cents per gallon when you started driving IIRC. I'm close to you in age.

RU and SA had a meeting to negotiate their drilling/pricing war that gave us temporary cheap gas. I'm sure he was whining to them about everything, not just oil. Probably why the stock market has been climbing. I just hope it kills shale oil.

Now Saudi Arabia would love the US shale oil industry go away. The Saudi's have the world's cheapest oil, and could decide to pump and pump at cheap prices. The US shale oil is expensive compared to Saudi and Russian oil.

Personally I believe the Saudi's deliberately intended to flood the oil market and crash prices - to get a point to Putin in that Putin needs to stay in line with OPEC and to hurt the US shale oil industry.

High oil and gas prices make alternative technologies more feasible.

Today's prices are incredibly low, and are simply unsustainable. When I can get gasoline for $1.79 without using any of my discount options, that is super cheap. I understand that some parts of the country have even lower prices.

And shale producers can’t shut down or the well dries up permanently. So they have to keep pumping at a loss. The Fed stepped in today to buy up their junk bonds to further prop up that sector.

The Fed is also propping up the stock market and corporations. Still nothing trickling down to the general public. They could buy up mortgages and auto refs them to a low rate with payments deferred but they don’t care about that.

SA officials came out of Vienna "shocked" that Russia was going pump and dump oil and so they "had no choice" but pump as well.

Of course we all know its bullshit. It may have been Russia's idea, but SA was all too happy to go along with it. They want the shale producers out just as much as Russia. Putin, was just willing to be the bad guy for them.
