It's an absentee ballot
There are 19 states that allow absentee, but require a valid excuse, the other states require no reason given. You ask and they give.
No state west of the Mississippi River requires a valid excuse.
Of the 18, 11 would be classified as Republican, 6 Democratic and 2 mix (Pennsylvania and New Hampshire).
Valid excuse in all 19 do include illness, physical disability, overseas job (me), military service, religious observance, and required to work.

6. I would love to do mail-in voting, but our Republican legislature would never allow it. Even...

absentee voting in this state (NC) requires two witnesses. I'm in a high risk category, and I haven't allowed anyone inside my home since all this mess began...not even family. I furiously spray or wipe down every item that enters my home. After witnessing that debacle in WI, I have absolutely no hope that Repukes will do the right thing and allow vote by mail in red & purple states.
