Updated Apr 10, 2020
COLUMBUS, OhioProtesters unhappy with Ohios social-distancing restrictions could be heard in the background during Gov. Mike DeWines daily briefing Thursday at the Ohio Statehouse.
O-H-I-O! Actons got to go!" chanted a group of roughly 70 protesters who demonstrated outside the Statehouse before and during the briefing -- most while still following social-distancing rules.
Some protesters said they are worried about how many Ohioans are out of work because of the DeWine administrations stay-at-home" order, as well as similar directives closing non-essential businesses and banning mass gatherings. (The statewide order banning mass gatherings specifically exempted First Amendment demonstrations).
Demonstrators also said they didnt believe the coronavirus modeling cited by the governor and Ohio Department of Health Director Dr. Amy Acton to justify the orders.
The protesters didnt identify themselves. Multiple demonstrators said they were not with an organized group, though some appeared to be associated with a religious organization, as they were carrying a cross.

(17,981 posts)From Ohio and can second what your sister said. I saw my Son for the first time yesterday in 2 months.
Apparently a light stayed on in my trunk so my battery died. He came to recharge it, bring me masks, disposable gloves and insisted on picking up my prescriptions. We still stayed 6 feet apart, sanitized.
You called the protesters right. A family of Democrats but on this Mike DeWine is doing a fine job. He is rated right under Cuomo. Couple of hot spots in Northern Ohio cities, but smart people are listening.

Garages are seeing a lot of car problems. I started it up a couple of days before.
Did you know cars now have a one time start if your battery goes dead? New cars show it. Mine is a few years old, but it is in the manual..
Will now drive around the block every day.

(17,981 posts)But he read my book because to him it seemed it was simply a light or something that caused it to run down. The trunk seemed to stick when I pressed the button. I later opened and shut it, but could have been.
Just drove to the PostOffice, voted for Joe!

(5,122 posts)Quality education that fosters critical thinking - rooted in science, history( not just typical " American history" - an understanding of world history and data.
We have been lacking in education for so long and the Republicans have been just fine with that. Knowing that they can " easily fool" the uneducated. This is dangerous. We see it now.
So many people have relied on magical thinking and extreme religious beliefs, and with the internet more reliance on ridiculous conspiracy theories, rejecting science and data. We have to do more to push back against this. Our survival with depend on this.

Their signs criticized the governor's stay-at-home order, closure of schools and shutdown of the economy: "My constitutional rights are essential," "Ohio dies when government lies," "Quarantine the sick not the Constitution," "A free people in a pandemic are still a free people."

(17,981 posts)Rush Limbaugh called the virus a hoax yesterday. You would think a man close to deaths door would think twice about minimizing 17,000 deaths.
