GOP Worries Trump Is Tanking His Re-Election
April 10, 2020 at 9:30 am EDT By Taegan Goddard
Trump can easily address the briefing worries by doing fewer, but the lackluster bounce-back planning is what worries Republicans most.
Some think he has only weeks to figure it out. The consequences of failure would be a November defeat, some warn.

(58,598 posts)As much as they "seem" to care about Trump, he is just the coattails they want to ride to maintain power.
With any luck and some hard work on our part, Trump will crash and burn and take the Repub party with him.

(4,305 posts)that everything they have gotten pushed through is because he is an idiot and signed whatever was put in front of his face as long as they left him alone to do his own destruction they are fine with that.

(11,682 posts)to the "experts." He claims to be so smart, but he could not name 40 state capitols. I'd love to see him be tested on all sorts of common knowledge a grade schooler would know.

(4,305 posts)He doubt he can even name the capital of NY or FL. I would love to see the results of an IQ test.

(25,480 posts)He has the highest IQ of anyone who was ever President. Maybe Newton, Einstein, and Feynman had higher measured IQs but The Great One, blessed be he, is immeasurably Street-smart.

(4,845 posts)We see these articles weekly. When the time comes, they will vote for him. They don't stand up to him even if they are worried and then Trump gets worst and worst. Worrying behind the scene does nothing. Call him out and put the check and balance on him or shut up.

(111,052 posts)They are more worried about maintaining power than the lives of the American people.
That should be an automatic disqualifier.

(8,038 posts)Shouldn't they be worried that he might actually win re-election (or successfully steal it) and what this will do to what's left of our democracy?
Fuck them being "worried." I for one am terrified about the prospects of another four weeks, let alone another four years of this monstrosity.

(6,477 posts)Trump's not really a "planner" or a "doer." He's more of a "sayer" and a "spewer."

(8,090 posts)and when they do, game over. I'm talking about the WSJ crew, the ones he called "Fake News." And the big money pro/college sports owners and coaches. I saw a poll last night where something like 60- or 70 percent of Americans won't attend games until there's a vaccine. And the property owners, the ones losing out on mortgages and rents because, well, workers aren't working.
Trump's mismanagement needs to be hung around his neck. His disregard for our healthcare workers, first responders and service workers, especially. And his complete lack of empathy over the loss of life. Rick Wilson's/George Conway's Lincoln Project is going for the jugular and I truly hope its message gets through to some voters.

(17,136 posts)Which I've always understood to mean throwing away, deliberately, your chance of winning.
Trump's hubris was always going to be his downfall; he worried me more as his term in office progressed and he started to relish the power POTUS has. Given the legal strife he will face at the end of his term, I can't see him 'tanking' deliberately. More a final, desperate effort to impose his 'strong-man' will on the US.
It won't end well for Trump. Joe Biden will be President Elect come November and Trump will do everything available with his final shreds of lame duck power to destroy a country that wouldn't bend to his obviously superior power and intellect.
You guys don't need this now or at any other time. Hope you and yours are doing well and hunkering down.
Love ya Sis.

(54,291 posts)Just ask Hillary Clinton.
To defeat Trump in the election to the point where even Republicans have to acknowledge that he lost, Biden will have to win overwhelmingly to overcome Republican electoral fraud.
Under that umbrella, I include the whole package: suppression of voting rights, discarding and hiding voter registrations, Republican programming of electorinic voting machines, foreign hacking of the electoral process at any stage, destruction of Democratic paper ballots, curtailing of mail, absentee, and advance voting opportunities, and elimination of polling places in cities with large Democratic precincts.
My goal (and I know how utopian this is) would be twofold: a mandatory ten year minimum jail sentence for any interference in the electoral process, including the Republican sleazebags who register people to vote and then dump the registrations in the nearest garbage dump, as was filmed last time. A guaranteed ten years behind bars might discourage some of that.
The second part of my goal is simple: a law, affecting the whole country, saying simply that if you are a citizen of the United States, you are registered to vote on your eighteenth borthday. Period.
Once we get that done, then comes part three: move election day from the first Tuesday of November to the first Sunday of November. If that takes a Constitutional Amendment, then, let's get started!

(2,449 posts)If he does, then he'll be responsible for cleaning up his own mess.
He most likely won't mind leaving it to a Democratic administration and taunt them because of it.
He's taking a shit on the world and demanding that someone else clean it up. That's what entitled people do.
