The view from the Tenderloin

The View from the Tenderloin
I'm back. My body took a beating from that move, my care provider prescribed protean. I've been eating eggs, short ribs, hamburgers, chicken salad, yogurt, chocolate chip banana bread, hard cider, tequila and oj. Ok, the liquids were also prescribed, by me. I feel better. I went back into the hood this morning for my walk, I wanted to see if my favorite corner store was still functioning, it is but with some bare spots on the shelves. I needed to get some sugar, as somehow salt got mixed into the big sugar bin.
I put Dark Side of the Moon on my blue tooth headphones and went out the door. Short sleeves and Shorts this morning. I got mixed signals all along the way. Empty, quiet streets gave me a sense of peace and calm, the boarded up store fronts, which I'm seeing more and more, imparting a different message. Somewhat of a jarring juxtaposition. I'm going to stay in as much as I can now, as we all must. I'm waiting for the plague money to show up in my bank account, when it does I'm going to stock the new place up.
We run and we run
To catch up with the sun
But it's sinking
Racing around to come up behind you again
The sun is the same in a relative way
But you're older
Shorter of breath
And one day closer to death
We are all of us on this road together. We are here to help each other along, and to pave the way for those coming behind us.
Hold those dear to you close
God save the Republic
