really bad: Bloomberg data strategy firm makes bid to run Biden campaign
Published 12 mins ago on April 10, 2020By Common Dreams
Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was among the first critics to raise alarm Friday afternoon after The Intercept reported that a digital strategy firm owned by billionaire Mike Bloomberg is in serious talks to win a contract to take over work on Joe Bidens general election campaign against President Donald Trump.
Along with Bidens campaign, journalist Ryan Grim, who broke the story, reported, the firmcalled Hawkfish and which ran Bloombergs primary campaignis now courting a wide swath of other progressive and Democratic organizations, opening up the possibility of Bloomberg gaining significant control over the partys technology and data infrastructure."

(42,278 posts)I really don't care what the Congresswoman thinks. We are going to need lots of ammunition.

(57,073 posts)Probably the best I've personally ever seen. It's distrust in his motives & having another billionaire calling the shots that scares the hell out of me.
I'm concerned that they would do a superior job then at the last minute when everyone trusts them, they drop a huge bogus bomb. Like a Comey bomb.

We are in "backs against the wall", " any means necessary " mode.

(1,602 posts)Bloomberg wants Trump out, has endorsed Biden, and ran some of the most effective ad campaigns of the primary season. Frankly, AOC notwithstanding, I've been hoping to hear that Bloomberg and Biden have been in talks.

This was touted as a big positive (potentially) when Bloomberg dropped out.

(57,073 posts)why isn't Bloomberg funding this? Perhaps he is & I'm missing something.
I just do not trust him.

(3,473 posts)And probably could care less if he doesn't make a profit off this, like other firms will want to do.

(31,261 posts)By not making a profit, he spins the savings back to democratic campaigns.

(13,776 posts)Not about him personally, necessarily, but because the firm he hired was so excellent that they would have (and I hope will) run rings around the Trump campaign.
I guess I understand her concerns, but wouldn't any firm have access to the DNC's technology and data infrastructure? I assume that if it's Bloomberg's firm, they won't turn around in the next election and sell their outstanding services to the RNC if the RNC is the top bidder next time.

(7,261 posts)If she says Bloomberg owning Dem infrastructure is a bad idea I concur.
Now that I think about it, I don't even need to know who AOC is to know this is a bad idea. Course, I distrusted him from way back when he was a repuke and privy to their campaign machinery, all the way back to 2018.

(90,565 posts)Like a lot of us here, Mike Bloomberg is a single-issue voter this year. The difference between him and the rest of us is he is a self-made billionaire with resources the rest of us can't even imagine.
I see you searching for words to express yourself. Perhaps the words are: "Thank God."

(1,989 posts)with one hand tied behind their back? Brad Parscale will be sitting on 1 billion. I dont think the DNC is prepared or setup to fight this. COVID 19 makes this even more important in the swing states. This is not a bad idea.

(95,243 posts)She seems to think she will defeat Rep. Wasserman Schultz in a primary:
If Perelman wants to make mount a legitimate challenge to Wasserman Schultz, the married mother of two must ramp up her fundraising efforts.
According to the latest FEC filings, Perleman has raised roughly $39,000 with $25,000 of that coming from other loans. Wasserman Schultz has raised about $700,000.
https://floridianpress.com/2019/10/wasserman-schultz-faces-another-primary-election-challenger/
This shows some serious class:
Perleman, who supports the whole gambit of issues that the socialist Democrats in the U.S. Congress are pushing, used a recent story about Wasserman Schultzs battle against breast cancer to drive home her point that the popular congresswoman does not support the Medicare for All measure.
Threats from people unlikely to crack the Keynes Constant in a primary are hardly a reason to shiver, or to reject an expert media operation.

Helping make Trump the biggest loser in American history doesnt require you to vote for Hillary Clinton. A vote for anybody other than Trump ― Green Jill Stein, Libertarian Gary Johnson, writing in your own name ― drives down Trumps overall national percentage by driving up the total turnout.

Just that Bloomberg was not a good candidate.
Of course, nothing is for free, but I don't see Biden's team improving anytime soon.
