Congratulations America on becoming the first country to have half a million +COVID-19 cases

https://ncov2019.live/data

This accounts for almost one third of all confirmed cases in the world!

In spite of the Trump administration deliberately trying to control testing and the numbers reported.

Something to think about.

We are a lot less densely populated, even in our big cities. We don't have mass transit. Schools in our area (Houston metropolitan) have been closed since March 9 or March 16. My daughter works at a daycare and she was furloughed March 17 due to no kids in the facility. Many of us have been working from home since March 16. But basically, we are spread out. Our hospitals are at 65% capacity (and we are very lucky to have a world class med center).

Cases per million=437

Agreed cases don't really tell the story, but deaths do.
TX is the 2nd most populous state with almost 29 million. You have to compare apples to apples.

And right now, everyone in TX is more concerned about Louisiana

That we will hit either 20,000 or 25,000 deaths on Easter Sunday.

It is going to be a very sad holiday for a lot of people.

According to the chart, 2,000 people died of COVID-19 today in America.

"the envy of the world" with all our respirators and hospital beds. Everyone is calling him up to tell him what a great job he is doing, even thought he said only a few days ago that getting vital supplies and PPE to hospitals was the responsibility of the states and that the Federal government was only supposed to act as "backup".

But now suddenly, he's the savior of the entire country and everything is going just swimmingly, even though we have more cases and deaths than any other nation in the world. God, he just makes me absolutely sick!

That Continent has over 804,000 COVID-19 cases. I guess that's kind of similar. Still, isn't it amazing that approximately 850 million people account for over two thirds of the world's COVID-19 confirmed cases; a world population of app. 7.5 billion?

The entire world is not scaled up for corona virus testing. Comparing the number of confirmed cases in, say Poland, with the number in Egypt or Nigeria makes no sense, since the level of testing is not comparable.

We can compare countries within Europe, much of Asia, or North America. But there is no basis for comparison over the whole world.

Comparing our little country isn't the same as with Europe. We don't know how the individual countries are conducting their tests and therefore the accuracy is in question. Then again, we don't know how our individual states are tallying their numbers, eh?

When I see a number of confirmed cases in America I usually think the real number is ten times that amount.

Heads of state rarely operate 'alone', after all.

I would hope that "the whole world" isn't dumb enough to imagine
one highly unpopular person representing a minority party for one term is "the face of America".

We could help educate them to that fact by not acting as if we ourselves believe it..

They'd learn that it's not NEARLY as easy to get rid of an American president as it is a British Prime Minister.. There's no "vote of no confidence" in our congress as there is in their parliament.

Short of a violent revolution, there are only two ways to remove a US president -- a guilty verdict in an Impeachment trial, or the invocation of the Constitution's 25th Amendment. We tried the first, but unlike impeachment, the second option can not start in Congress, it must be declared by a joint action of the vice-president and a majority of the president's cabinet. The cabinet is hand picked by the president, and so is largely, if not completely, of his own party. With that as the case, I think you can imagine the likelihood of "success" there.
