We have never experienced this as a society. Everything changes on the other side. There will be a new "normal".

We have experienced way worse. Do a little research on the Spanish flu.

You can count on your fingers how many remember the Spanish Flu. I am giving reference to what many of us dealt with in the 70's. 56.000 died in VietNam, how many will die here? Turns out the enemy was a virulent virus aided and abetted by an ignorant (best case) President.

Our bad, we permanently fucked up our standing, world-wise.
