Sheltering at home? I have not left my place in probably well over 4 to 5 weeks. Of course I prefer it to being exposed to the virus. With my previous problems it could well Kill me. So, hanging out in virtual chat rooms or hunting Monsters Has helped. Along with my stash of
Indica in a jar.
By the way,.. I have a channel on youtube now...incase you would like to see my

This is a very stressful time and hoping you are finding ways to deal. I also rented a couple of good movies from the playstation store...and can watch the ones i bought...Sometimes a great
get away is an enjoyable movie.

(and yeah, I am relieved to be home when I can, but like many of my friends and colleagues, we only go home to literally "crash." )

goes around the county. I've been going on rides. There are lot more people using it than usual, but for the most part everyone is distancing properly. I had to pick up a new tube for a tire. I went to two different stores to find it their bicycle sections were nearly wiped out. Other than that Netflix, video games and working around the yard.

(4,514 posts)I'm halfway through playing every selection in my vinyl collection, there are 48 100mg brownies (chocolate, carmel, PB and lemon) individually vacuum sealed in the freezer and the garden plot will be ready by the time the spring monsoons in OK have passed.
I have worked from home making jewelry to support my beading hobby for the last 7 years. No one is buying what I am selling NOW, but I'm still cranking out inventory working on the "if you build it they will come (eventually)" principal. The biggest challenge for me is having hubby home 24/7 for the last 2 weeks. I have to watch my weight and he can eat anything he likes. The house is FILLED with junk and it talks to me late at night after a brownie

(54,329 posts)My wife is good company, and we have no problems inviting the couple across the street, with whom we are best friends, over for coffee or dinner. Tonight, my wife made chicken stroganoff with an arrugula salad (with pomegranate, pine nuts and balsamico), and a self-baked blueberry pound cake to finish it off. I dare say, no better meal was to be had within a 20 kilometer radius.
I keep in touch a lot with family, friends, and work colleagues. When the phone rings, I still have to be ready to speak English, German, Swiss German, Dutch, Swedish, Russian, French, Spanish, Ilalian, or Catalan. Out of sight, maybe, but never out of mind.
We go for walks in the woods, which luckily means about 300 meters from our house door. And we go to the farmers market in town, held in the town square three times a week, as it has been for the last 800 years. People keep their distance, but we still have to eat.
At some point, we'll both be screaming "WE GOTTA GET OUTTA HERE," but we're not there yet.

(34,055 posts)Switched to online teaching (a royal pain, but I'm getting better). Teaching 10 hours a week via WebEx and Zoom is exhausting.
My family, whose signal that I'm available to play, is that I'm at home does not understand why I'm not available to play (cook supper, run errands, etc.) (Normally I'm at work from 11 AM - midnight or later, 7 days a week)

(11,443 posts)With depression but refuses to take meds for it went into a spiral this morning. The last straw was his truck not starting, after spending a bunch of money on it.
To keep myself from spiraling down with him I normally go for a drive, get together with a friend, go shopping, get a massage...but all those except maybe a drive are out and I am not frivolously driving anymore either.
I am finding my patience for dealing with his issues is waning because I am trying to keep myself afloat.
I forced us to go for dog walk to a part of neighborhood with a view that helped.
I just hope hes up for the concert in the morning. Andrea Bocelli is doing a Easter concert in Milan Italy alone in a cathedral at 10am PT on YouTube for free, we saw him years ago, his tickets are $300 for the cheap seats. This is a blessing!

(47,546 posts)Except for a quick trip to work on Monday 3/16 to get my work computer, that is.
Just finished my fourth week of working from home, and I'm trying to figure out how to continue doing so even after the all-clear.
A fast internet connection, a rack of guitars, and my 4-yr-old nephew are the three best things in my life right now.
Other than that: Bored beyond belief.

(2,463 posts)We live on a County park, but it's closed. We used to take walks around the lake, but that's out now. I have no discipline to work out on my own, so I miss the classes at the gym. I did get a whole bunch of compost delivered, so I'll get into the garden again. The local deer dined on the two flats of pansies that I was going to plant, so they're on my porch looking for a home...they are blooming again.
Today I put makeup on, like I used to do before this. Believe it or not, it gave me energy. I think I'm starting to get used to this new normal. I don't have a sewing machine, so I'm looking around the house to cannibalize some clothes or linens to make ersatz no-sew bandana face masks.
I put on jeans to feel more normal, but after a few hours I said "hell no" and switched back into my sweats.

(3,413 posts)I've been home for a month now, except for 3 trips to the local grocery store. I wear a cloth mask when I go out to the store, and I am very careful to disinfect my hands and purchases with anti-viral wipes. I'm up here in the Tacoma area where everything is in bloom, and my allergies are running amuck! So, sneezing, running nose, itchy eyes, the whole nine yards.
I also have asthma and I'm wheezing like crazy, and I've developed a dry cough as a result. But my temperature has been normal for nearly 3 weeks, and I feel pretty good, so I'm pretty sure that the cough is allergy/asthma related and NOT the virus. Anyway, I'm staying home, making masks for donating to my neighbors (all 55+), and using my vaporizer to ease my lung congestion, as the air here is pretty dry. I'm also not smoking the lovely cannabis my son-in-law gave me.

(65,169 posts)I have to go out sometimes because no one will get things for me or my mom. My part of Montgomery County, PA seems stable though. I had enough problems before this disease. Now waiting for my stimulus check which has not come. I assume most have not gotten theirs? At least I am not food needy.

(19,240 posts)and I have cobbled together my own PPE because my employer says "If they are not coughing you can't catch it as long as you wear a flimsy paper mask" which we all know is BS. Also being told that they are taking care of us because every other week we can telecommute--i.e. work from home. However the system that allows us to log onto the work computers crashes all the time and when it does we are expected to come into work anyway. Laptops specifically programmed to be compatible with the system would fix this problem however we are told "They cost too much."

(6,479 posts)so I am quite happy today!
Day before yesterday I headed for town to mail some papers and to pick up drive through food. Came home, walked through the rain, said good night to my outside animals, and went in the house.
Next day, I go to feed my two dogs some lunch. It was still raining. My malamute was missing. She should have been up on the porch, a sheltered, dry place. She wasn't there.
She was, in fact, no where to be found. With heavy heart, I figured she had died and was concealed somewhere I just couldn't see her.
I felt terrible. I looked for her in the morning. My single dog came up to eat, but not my big dog. Damn! And, my two goats, who consider her their leader, also were obviously looking for her. That just really, really made me feel bad.
So tonight, I went to feed my little dog his dinner at the back door. He comes zipping around from the garage, and guess who came with him? My malamute! I just screamed, it was so startling. She had this happy big grin on her face, looking good and ready to eat. Am I lucky or what?
So, the only question left is, where was she for a day and a half? Obviously somewhere she was happy. She's just here for the grub...
I've loved her for years and years and if she died it would be understandable. She's old. What I don't understand is why she chose to go somewhere in the middle of the night while it was raining buckets. She's a free-wheeling dog, but she has a job leading goats around and she has never, ever left--well, except that one time--and certainly not from the cozy porch.
So, while bad things are going on, some mercy is shown, and I am inspired to go on.
