OK, I'm just guessing. I went grocery shopping at Walmart. The parking lot was absolutely packed, which surprised me. Last Saturday it was 25% full. Tons of cars out there. When 80% of the businesses are closed, the ones that are open are mobbed.
They had a rope line to get in, and you had to stand 6 ft apart. But they were letting EVERYBODY in. This was big Sunday dinner type of shopping, not stocking up for the hoard shopping.
So maybe people think its ok to ease up for the day - or maybe they're just having a big dinner this weekend. I hope so.

(25,716 posts)It is still Easter and folks may wish to celebrate the holiday in some fashion. We are cooking a turkey that was in the freezer and doing a few other side dishes.

(14,795 posts)One of the worst exposures we can have is being in a confined area with an infected person (symptomatic or not) for an extended period of time, even when they're not coughing or touching anyone. This has been proven.
Too many Americans simply cannot accept that we really need to break with a lot of traditions this year and isolate as much as possible.

(42,674 posts)One of my more religious daughters asked me What I was doing for Easter and I had to pause...I never do anything for Easter once the kids got passed the Easter bunny stage...
In other words, Im doing the same thing as I usually do. Work and get holiday pay.
I have three daughters, two are persons of faith, one Catholic, and I forget what the other one is, one of those evangelical churches that havent lost their entire minds, she says they are doing online church services and we rented them a bunch of movies on Amazon the kids want to see.

(103,796 posts)has declined to about 20%. A lot of work happens outside, ranching activities, you can't take a day off when you have livestock at this time of year. Planting is "time" in many rural areas, though not here yet as we're expecting another two days of snowfall.
Some folks may have started receiving there relief money and are restocking. And then, I'm sure there are cultists out there too. I have one next door, she doesn't think this whole virus thing is as bad as they say it is. She has no intention of wearing a mask. Scary.
I have to go to a gas station today but I use a card at the pump. Really what I need is air in my tires. Seems I need a new set of rims, they leak when it's cold weather - I know what I'm doing with my relief money. But then I'll come right home. Don't need to shop for another few days.

(5,165 posts)had about a dozen cars packing his driveway today (Sat.), so I guess they'll whoop it up tonight and celebrate Easter tomorrow morning and infect each other and everybody else they come into contact with. Assholes.
OTOH another Trump-supporting neighbor may have seen the light. They called us a couple of weeks ago offering to do any shopping we should need, and yesterday they made me smile when their 6-and 4-year-olds were out in their yard trying to fly a kite.

(1,178 posts)There's some that are still in denial. Went and got a quick set of groceries today and saw someone and they think the amount of deaths being reported are "fake news" and that "they're just trying to scare people."
