Note: This is an opposite experience to recent posts, so I decided to make it a separate post....
I wanted to get a leg-o-lamb for easter to at least keep some sense of normalcy and have a family (in the house) dinner.
This is a small meat/grocery market in a suburb in central mass. It's more conservative than communities to our east, but not brain dead.
Anyway, when I get there I see the owner (his kids went to school with mine) standing out front. He is instructing people to line up 6 feet apart on the sidewalk until he can let them in. He is only letting 8 people at a time in. If you are going to the meat counter, he sends you to the far left where there is tape on the floor every 6 feet.
He also put the more popular items in a reefer case along the conga line. There, I founf my treasure along with baked hams and some polish specialties. I was able to grab a few things and go straight to the checkout. Again, six foot spacing to get there. There was a plexiglass cough shield in front of the cashier.
EVERY worker and the owner was wearing a mask and gloves. Just about every shopper I saw had a mask on (so did I).
I also had to grab some garden supplies, and the local tractor supply offered curb side pickup. Order and pay online, call when you get there, and someone brings your stuff out into the parking lot. Easy peasy. Never get within 6 feet of the worker.
Oh, and I sous vide the lamb, then finished it on the grill. Tender, juicy, cooked perfectly........ Apologies to vegans and vegats........
