Sen. Lindsey Graham spouted off to the Greenville (SC) News about unemployment benefits being too generous in the Coronavirus relief bill and incentivizing people not to work.
He either doesnt know or is spouting pure bullshit to make it sound like people can just decide to quit their jobs and collect unemployment instead of work.
You cant. You can only collect unemployment if youre fired or laid off.
It did not go well when the newspaper posted about the story on its Facebook page.
In fact, there isnt a single positive comment about Graham as people correct Grahams misinformation about unemployment and say the one-time $1200 payment they could get is not enough to get them through this crisis.

Here's hoping South Carolinians are 'unhappy' enough to put Lindsey on unemployment.

(22,112 posts)anything like unemployment pay. Mr. Reith mentioned in one of his youtube videos that the republicans make hay on this massive number of unemployment claims when in reality, only a small percentage will be eligible to collect such benefits. Only 27% according to Mr. Reich. Wow. And the republicans seem to try and convey massive numbers will collect such well deserved pay.
I wonder how many farmers are collecting their socialist farm support payments? I imagine that when the actual numbers of those who are eligible to collect unemployment pay, vs. the number of farmers collecting their payments, I'd imagine both numbers would be somewhat close perhaps (millions of farms vs. only 27% of the 30 million or so people who can actually collect unemployment pay)...
Don't get me wrong, I do support the family farms, after all, it's a business too. What I don't support, is the unfettered, uncontrolled corporate farms, who get virtually unlimited benefits being a corporate entity (where all of the tax breaks, tax cuts, etc. all seem to fall).
