Any talk of 'leverage' to force changes to platform or rules must go by the board.

He hasn't the votes to carry anything in his own right. There is no means to secure disproportionate influence, ie the triumph of a minority position, besides threatening something the majority concludes could inflict too great a harm to risk incurring. It is unpleasant, perhaps, for his well-meaning and goodhearted supporters to contemplate, but the thing is what it is. Any unruliness, any divisiveness, any disruption, in even the smallest degree, is open assistance to the cheap thug we must evict from office.

This is a situation in which unconditional surrender is required. Sometimes throwing oneself on the mercy of the court is the one possible means to appeal with success for leniency.
