But would take deep thought to discern what they might be....

Welcome to the forum by the way.

For starters, Bernie is 78 and has a heart condition. Nobody - especially someone Biden's age - is going to choose such a precarious running mate. And coming in second in the primaries is completely irrelevant to the Electoral College or, for that matter, to anything else. Bernie is not a factor any more. He endorsed Biden, which is a good thing, and if he campaigns for him, great. But he has no place on that ticket or anywhere else in the executive branch.

Biden needs a younger female to be his VP. Bernie's voice is important, and he will be able to help from Congress.

...in large part because I believe their sentiments are sincere. Let us move forward into this election, but even more importantly subsequently into governing, with a strong sense of common purpose. Slavish agreement on every detail is unbecoming in a democracy, but shared aspirations are imperative for this moment

Any talk of 'leverage' to force changes in the platform or the rules must go by the board.

Since this is an endorsement of Biden, I would expect the majority of Sanders supporters to vote for Biden in the remaining primaries

I am keeping an open mind to see what Sanders actually does. I hope this is just the start of his road to repentance, and to achieve right relations with our efforts to turf out the cheap thug that four years ago he did just about all he could to put in office. Amnesty, even forgiveness, are available, but only can be secured by right action.
