Homeless are getting hit pretty hard by this viruse.

We have a place called Z mansion and the UofA is teaming up to help. https://www.kgun9.com/news/coronavirus/uarizona-medical-students-help-homeless-during-covid-10-pandemic

Also Primavera is trying to get masks to the homeless they can. Not easy to do with how masks are in such demand.

But there is no real openings in shelters right now. So the homeless is definitely in the cross hairs of this viruse.

Used to be, there were libraries that were open throughout the day. You could get there from your tent and either warm up or cool off depending on the season. Of course, the necessary bathroom facilities were available as needed, other than showers.

There were also occasional opportunities to shower and do laundry if you knew someone who would let you use there facilities. Now, you can end up not having a shower for weeks and wearing the same clothes.

It has become outdoors all the time from tent to outdoors and back again. The weather is not so cold, but rain is a challenge. You can find free wi-fi and even some closed shops still have it on, if there is an outlet around, you can at least get online with an old laptop.

If SNAP is your only means of procuring food, you don't get to buy any hot or prepared meals and if you don't have a basic kitchen, (stove, fridge, sink) it is difficult to make it through the month on what you can afford without preparation: $6.00-per-day, roughly. Now that shortages are on the way and breaks in the supply chains, the prices are going to go up quickly and people on SNAP will be hard pressed to make it through the month. Fasting is often required for one or more days.

For elders, this really wears you down fast. You might have to walk a mile or more just to use the bathroom and oldsters know how that goes with aging equipment.

Now, just multiply that times potentially tens-of-thousands of people. The numbers are only going to increase.

That is going to become a whole new public health issue.
