CORONAVIRUS NEWS: 21 TEACHERS AMONG 50 NYC EDUCATION EMPLOYEES DEAD OF CORONAVIRUS

NEW YORK CITY (WABC) -- 21 New York City public school teachers are among the 50 Department of Education employees who have died of coronavirus, DOE said Monday.

"Our thoughts are with their families, loved ones, and school communities during this difficult time. Upon notification of each passing the DOE is providing school communities with the mental health and emotional supports to process these losses. We are also supporting staff in notifying their communities in the most appropriate way possible, while respecting the wishes of families," the DOE wrote in a statement.

I told my family and friends I would walk out and stay home at the beginning of March.

My school environment was filled with germs and I was sick 90% of the school year from my students. My administrators often made me work and wouldn't call subs. I had mono for 6 months and worked every day. Once I lost 1/3 of my blood internally but still worked and students' parents went to my principal asking for her to allow me to go home since my skin was grey and I was so weak. She finally did and I was in the hospital within a few days and missed a month of school. I have permanent health issues from almost 20 years of teaching and had to stop after my doctors told me this about 6 years ago.

Do NOT reopen schools!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Parents need to keep themselves safe from their asymptomatic kids and siblings who could be carriers too.
