US may have to endure social distancing until 2022 if no vaccine is quickly found, scientists predic

(CNN)This may be the new normal for quite a while.

The US may have to endure social distancing measures -- such as stay-at-home orders and school closures -- until 2022, researchers projected on Tuesday. That is, unless, a vaccine becomes quickly available.

That's according to researchers from the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, who published their findings in the journal Science on Tuesday. Those findings directly contradict research being touted by the White House that suggests the pandemic may stop this summer.

The team at the Harvard School of Public Health used what's known about Covid-19 and other coronaviruses to create possible scenarios of the current pandemic.

"Intermittent distancing may be required into 2022 unless critical care capacity is increased substantially or a treatment or vaccine becomes available," they wrote in their report. "Even in the event of apparent elimination, SARS-CoV-2 surveillance should be maintained since a resurgence in contagion could be possible as late as 2024."

Governors using science will keep social distancing & slowly remove restrictions then we will have the Governors (idiot republicans) who will just open up full steam ahead which of course will restart the virus gobbling up America again and crashing the economy even worse with untold thousands more deaths.

9. I am a people person and I like to hug and sit next to people.

I have already been longing to give a friend or my mother a hug. Then on top of that I do not get to see them or not very often.

I mean, yes, I do have cats to keep me company and snuggle but I miss hugging and being next to something that does not shed on me.

It is sad to think about the people who do not even have close to what I have. I strongly suspect that there are people who were already very isolated that are more so now.

I do not know how others feel but I can't imagine most of us being able to handle this type of life for long.

12. We won't be able to endure it that long. Economically, nor emotionally.

My brother (high risk due to asthma and COPD) was happy his fish had babies today because they were new faces. That's the emotional side of it. Economically is the stimulus will dry up long before then. Imagine the people trapped in abusive homes dancing on a tightrope now just to survive? They won't make it that long.

With expected future rolling social distancing to keep hospitals from being overloaded, we will suffer and not endure this gracefully. It's just going to get worse.

If we don't get a vaccine within the next 12 months things will get very ugly.

Those firms know that the first one to develop a reliable vaccine makes itself a few tens of billions richer. I think it will be sooner rather than later.

I don’t believe for a minute that if college students get used to online for two years that they just won’t continue especially if they can finish with a very low debt. Also homeschool would explode. It would change education forever.
