You could get a $2,000 per month stimulus check under proposed bill

[link:https://www.localmemphis.com/mobile/article/news/health/coronavirus/you-could-get-a-2000-per-month-stimulus-check-under-proposed-bill/522-79d0ef57-932c-4d58-a4ab-5fd897f00b79|

Sounds as if someone is either in board with Maxine Waters or pilfered her plan!

You could get a $2,000 per month stimulus check under proposed bill
Two House Democrats behind the proposal say the one-time, $1,200 check on its way to Americans isn't going to be enough as unemployment skyrockets.

Two House Democrats have introduced legislation to give millions of Americans $2,000 per month during the coronavirus pandemic. The proposal comes as tens of millions await their one-time check from the CARES Act which was passed last month. Many of those people have ended up on the unemployment line in the past three weeks.

“A one-time, twelve hundred dollar check isn’t going to cut it,” said Khanna in a statement. “Americans need sustained cash infusions for the duration of this crisis in order to come out on the other side alive, healthy, and ready to get back to work.

Repukes will never allow this. Their strategy is to starve families into "get back to work!" mode, regardless of safety! 🤬

There will have to be another stimulus check in May, with mostly everything still shut down. Not passing anything would be political suicide with elections just around the corner.

is a bit incongruous. Look at Trump's approval rating in December of last year. Look at it today, it is within a couple of points. His handling of this virus has cost him and his fellow Republican mobsters nearly nothing. In fact, his approval rating is a point above his December approval ratings.....(43/44)

The Republicans aren't going to give more money to the workers. If the Senate passes it, it will be because they know Trump will not sign it. To give away more money means it will be harder to extort the people into going back to work. People are more willing to protect their health if they have plenty to eat and a roof over their children's heads.

In reality, I think they're done giving it to everyday Americans. They gave us the $1,200 to say they did something and take our eyes off the ball. I think this next phase that's being worked on is where the big corporations will get their windfall. Especially by the time the Republicans in the Senate get done.

I'm thinking if things are well-enough for the economy to re-open, then the corporations shouldn't need any money, since they'll have so much revenue coming in again.

ex played the world's oldest game- take a shitty job to screw the ex. cut that by 2/3.

now i am caught w an empty unit, in need of a rehab. starting to have supply disruptions, and one of my guys is hunkered down w his high risk wife, finally.
getting an emergency order ready for the court, which are functioning somewhat, but now i am wondering how long till he gets laid off. works for the merc, but he is one of the last hired, so...

i have a cushion, but it has to last me a looooong time. i expect to live another 30 years, and maintenance goes away in 2.

honestly was not worried when this started, but news of a second wave of layoffs has me worried.

..... but minimum wage employees are cheaper. You have to feed, shelter, and clothe
your slaves, but not your minimum wage workers.
You have to provide medical treatment to your slave to protect your investment.
Not so with the minimum wage employee. If she gets sick, incapacitated, or dies
you can get another with no capital outlay. Et cetera.

You probably know which end of the stick you are on. I've known since the Saint Ronald
of Reagan union-busting days.

The original plan agreed by various countries, along with their plans was posted on DU IIRC sometime in early March. There is a section that talks about a guaranteed income a monthly stipend if a pandemic happened and caused a shutdown. This isn't anything new. Maxine Waters, Mitt Romney didnt come up with these ideas. They already existed, and the fact that they are not being implemented is a travesty
