Coronavirus testing is stalling. That's not a good sign for re-opening the U.S. economy.

Here's one curve that has, unfortunately, flattened: The rate at which Americans are being tested for the novel coronavirus.

The United States drastically ramped up testing starting in mid-March, yet progress has slowed. The number of tests performed daily still falls far short of what experts suggest is needed to allow Americans to start resuming normal activities.

It’s a glaring problem even as President Trump assembled a task focused on reopening the economy as soon as possible.
Nearly every day for the past two weeks, 120,000 to 140,000 tests have been administered, according to a tracker assembled by volunteer journalists and scientists.

Nearly 3 million Americans — less than 1 percent of the population — have been screened for the virus. That leaves the United States still behind South Korea, Germany, Canada and Italy on testing per capita.

We aren't opening shit until THIS is corrected.

population. For themselves and their rich buddies, yes, but not for us. They denied WHO's testing and had barely any testing for the citizens. It costs a lot of money, and they rather pocket it.

3. Correction if you don't mind - we absolutely "shouldn't" reopen without greatly increased testing.

Will we open without it - I'd say indubitably. drumpf has a real problem with testing, he says it's being done and is sufficient, so he won't come off of this. He doesn't want it out that the company he owns is totally incapable of doing the job so he doesn't want a lot of demand for testing which would fail and could expose his profiteering which has heretofore largely been ignored by msm. He also wants the pandemic to be raging at election time and post office to have failed so only in-person voting will be allowed and the red states will close almost all precincts, especially in large urban areas, to fuck us up on purpose. Then if enough people come out, he can send in his rioters to create disturbances so he can declare martial law and stop the elections. I will be shocked beyond belief if he actually doesn't fuck this up on purpose to kill us and steal the election. Dead people can't protest the huge cuts to SS & Medicare that are coming and their money will just revert to the rich. as he intends.

additional spiral of the economy, t-rump will blame the governors. That is why each governor needs to adhere to the data and more testing.

t-rump is pure evil.

but it seems like politicians, celebrities, etc. are getting quickly tested (because it is being reported if they tested positive for it) but that everybody else seems to not be or waiting until they are on death's door before being tested, but even then not getting the results quickly or at all. Where are those rapid Abbott tests that a big deal was made about at a task force briefing? It was incredibly stupid for Trump to reject the WHO tests at the outset. I don't see a way out of this mess without widespread testing being readily available and utilized.

The plan lays out three-phases: Preparing the nation to reopen with a national communication campaign and community readiness assessment until May 1. Then, the effort, through May 15, would involve ramping up manufacturing of testing kits and personal protective equipment and increasing emergency funding.
