The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, which helps elect Democrats to the House, says it is prepared to assist Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (N.Y.) and Rashida Tlaib (Mich.) with their reelection should the congresswomen request help from the campaign arm.
Neither candidate has reached out to the DCCC with a request of that kind yet, according to the party body.
We stand by all of our incumbents and will continue working with our members to ensure that we protect and expand the House majority in 2020, DCCC spokesperson Robyn Patterson said in a statement.
The Tlaib campaign declined to comment on its plans. A spokesperson for Ocasio-Cortez did not respond to multiple requests for comment.
The DCCCs offer of support is notable because Ocasio-Cortez, in particular, has criticized the campaign arm for its policy of blacklisting vendors that work for candidates challenging incumbent House Democrats.
Ocasio-Cortez and Rep. Ayanna Pressley (D-Mass.), another member of the Squad of outspoken progressive, freshman lawmakers, won their seats in 2018 through successful primary challenges that they maintain might have been harder to achieve if the DCCC policy had then been in place.

(11,605 posts)They defended the black list in part by saying that AOC and other Squad members would benefit as much as conservative Dems being primaried from the left. My guess is they want to make a big show of supporting AOC and Omar to give credibility to their claim that the blacklist was as much to protect progressive incumbents as conservative ones, even though the clear intent was to prevent more AOC-style upsets.

Whether a public promise of support suits the images the two young dissident ladies want to project or not, they of course knew the DCCC helps reelect members of congress and depend on it.

(4,236 posts)Will the DCCC offer her money if AOC doesn't take it? Somebody should chip in! AOC is obviously too wobbly in her endorsement timing. Mmmmm. Dangerous.

Fucks Snooz is pushing her

A registered Democrat and descendant of Cuban immigrants, Caruso-Cabrera has been a fierce critic of socialism and advocate for free markets. According to CNBC, she filed to run late Monday.
Her 2010 book -- titled "You Know I'm Right: More Prosperity, Less Government" -- calls out both parties for ignoring "fiscally conservative, socially liberal" Americans like herself.
She has praised former President Reagan's economic policy and called for limited government, likely putting her at odds with Ocasio-Cortez's large-scale plans like the "Green New Deal." Ocasio-Cortez, who supports "democratic socialism," has faced other challengers for 2020, but Caruso-Cabrera seemed to be the most prominent to announce. Her website describes the race as "MCC vs. AOC," referring to the initials commonly used to describe Ocasio-Cortez.

Chamber of Commerce backs AOC's primary challenger
https://www.politico.com/news/2020/04/09/chamber-commerce-aoc-primary-challenger-175917
The traditionally conservative U.S. Chamber of Commerce is planning to endorse a primary challenger to progressive icon Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, a move that represents a dramatic intervention in a Democratic race.
The influential organization typically supports Republican candidates who are closely aligned with the business community. But the Chamber has decided to help Michelle Caruso-Cabrera, a former CNBC anchor who is waging an underdog challenge to Ocasio-Cortez. The freshman New York City congresswoman is perhaps the most prominent liberal in the House.
