(15,805 posts)Congress has no argument "on the time of adjournment", that are all too happy to flee DC.
Trump can try to pull a huge lie out of his ass and claim otherwise, but the court challenges would hit him immediately. The public backlash against Trump for usurping powers he is not entitled to will not make him anymore popular.

(25,969 posts)So far there's no reason for him to butt his nose in. At this point they really do need to figure out a secure way to meet and vote long distance, however, given the situation.
Also, Donny is waving a red flag in Nancy Pelosi's face. Not a wise move on his part.

Who in Congress is even broaching the subject of adjournment?
Even the RWNJs in there know it's political suicide to go on break during the crisis.

(6,960 posts)Article 2; Section 3; Clause 3
"...he may, on extraordinary Occasions, convene both Houses, or either of them, and in Case of Disagreement between them, with Respect to the Time of Adjournment, he may adjourn them to such Time as he shall think proper;"
There isn't an issue of disagreement between the Senate and House about adjournment.

(12,712 posts)Full on dictator mode from here on.
We might ask can he do this or that, but so far he has done this and that and nothing has stopped him.
He has stated that he has absolute authority and that's what his definition of the office is. We say, no you don't, that's a dictator's stance. He says, "So what?"
The impeachment was a pivotal point that failed, because that was not about being partisan as much as it was about ending a regime in progress.
We just have to play wait and see and find out what kind of opposition he will get.

(86,582 posts)Stay the fuck home.
He can try and fuck with us but he still can do nothing about the governors' alliance and we the people.
The thing that matters most for him is the economy. If we stay home, we take it away from him. What we have to do is take care of each other, seriously. It will create unity, the hard way but we can defeat him by refusing to cooperate.
