Trump asked why his name is going to appear on relief checks: "I don't know too much about it, but I understand my name is there." He says people will be "very happy" to get a "big, fat, beautiful check and my name is on it."

(35,309 posts)If it's a refundable tax credit and they don't get a check or their bank routing info's no good, their estate can probably claim it on their last tax filing.
Any CPAs out there that have seen anything on this?

(25,183 posts)but back in the 1980's I used to be an enrolled agent. There's probably an effective date in the legislation authorizing the advance tax credit, if the taxpayer was alive on that date, then their estate would get the credit, if not, then it probably wouldn't. And, it takes time for Social Security records to be updated with death reports, so I'd guess that tens of thousands of payments to deceased persons will happen.

(25,247 posts)how much does that amount to?
I don't think the government has the names of the people that died from the virus - so it seems like they would have issued checks to them.
That's a lot of money. Perhaps the next of kin will cash the checks and use it for burial expenses.

This is what I have found on that.
I guess some of the dead are receiving stimulus checks.
and if you are a relative of some sort I guess you can still receive it from them basically?
