The Vietnam Generation is getting fragged from both ends.

50,000+ young Americans died in the 10+ years of the Vietnam War. Countless more have suffered and died from wounds, exposure to deadly chemical defoliants, and broken hearts.

27,000+ (Official body Count) have died so far in 2 months in 2020, and the projections for the 'Official' Death Toll may reach 70,000; a large percentage of that number is from the very same Vietnam Generation. (Only Satan knows the TRUE Numbers including those who die from C-19 while not in the hospitals.)

They got fucked over and killed due to the incompetence and callousness of their Government when they were in their youth.

They are getting fucked over and dying due to the incompetence and callousness of their Government now that they are in their 'Golden Years'

This is a true American tragedy. Hope some filmmaker or writer or internet blogger takes up this meme and gives them their due sympathy, respect, compassion, and HONOR.

Most of those my age didn't think about tying those together, but you're right. We were around to live under some of the worst shit for brains leaders in American history. I was drafted and spent two years in the US Army during Vietnam. Actually considered myself one lucky young man when after basic I was sent to admin school and then to a job stateside. Many of my friends and old school mates were not so lucky. Some of the ones that made it back alive and seemed healthy suffered from exposure to Agent Orange, PTSD and other issues later in life. Some became drunks or drug addicts because of the experience in 'Nam. One friend died in a VA nursing home after spending decades in and out of VA health facilities for both physical and mental issues. He never got to experience freedom and joy in his life because he came back with a life sentence to the hell he could never forget.

The nursing home and VA center obituaries are showing that in this (Ft. Knox) area and no doubt all around the country.
It's reprehensible and having the draft-dodging flag-hugging fool lying every day just makes it worse.

Trump and his ass kissers in Congress as well as Hannity, Limbballs, Alex Jones, O’Reilly think seniors should again give their all to save Dow and GOP portfolios. You know, be patriotic, so those assholes that never served a day can make money. Let’s not even go to what is going on at the VA right now, thanks to trumps 3 Mar-A-Logo donors he put in charge. Fortunately, I was able to walk in my front door upright when it was over. The nightmares lasted long after my return and with time and medication they waned. I'm having nightmares again, just not as vivid and frightening. Cannabis seems to be doing the trick. It will have to as my prescription for the nightmare medication expired, and the prescribing doctor hasn't been in the office. I will try again tomorrow. If I get through this with a few nightmares I will see myself as fortunate.
Stay safe and stay home. As we would say in Vietnam, keep your head down and eyes open.

Put his money where his lungs are.

The parallels to the 1960's are truly frightening. They are channeling Robert MacNamara.

The Vietnam War killed my brother in law. We are a very small family now. My daughter has no cheerful uncle, and I have no other Spanish speaker in the family. My husband lost his brother. His sweet young face is in our diningroom. We worked hard against the War on Iraq, recognizing the same lies. Today our daughter is a doctor caring for COVID-19 patients. If she dies I will hold our evil government responsible and we will finally immigrate. I do not want to die here!

He was a healthy man, but seemed to have a problem with relating socially. It's hard to pinpoint.

One day, we were outside doing some work, and from out of nowhere, he said, "I was in Vietnam."
"Oh wow. You actually fought?"

"Yes. I saw my commander get his head blown off."

He went on to tell me how they were pinned down by the enemy, and his commander put his head up to check out the situation.

Seeing that completely fucked up the young man's life—forever.

Instead of the horrors of the Jungle, today's young heroes are facing the horror of the Emergency Room without protective gear...

...I hope the modern First Responders and Essential Workers can take lesson's on how to mentally and emotionally survive the trauma from the courageous example those Vietnam Vets who went through the pain and suffering many many moons ago set.

May their experience save the sanity and perhaps the lives of today's heroes.
