AMERICA (The Borowitz Report)In order to better coördinate their efforts to combat the coronavirus, the nations governors are considering the extraordinary step of forming a country.
The radical proposal is an unusual bipartisan effort, spearheaded by the Democratic governor of Michigan, Gretchen Whitmer, and the Republican governor of Ohio, Mike DeWine.
Mike and I were bidding against each other for masks and ventilators, and I was, like, Mike, this is crazy, Whitmer said. It would be so much better if we just worked together and formed a country.
DeWine said that Whitmers proposal of creating a country out of the fifty states made a lot of sense.

(10,346 posts)1. Funny not funny.
Some days these articles from Onion or Borowitz actually seem plausible. These are crazy times and it's getting harder to recognize satire any more.

When I saw "Confederacy" trending yesterday, I half entertained the idea that the various governors' coalitions that were/are forming could be likened to a secession.
It does really underline the inadequacy of the maladministration's response that governors are in effect forming their own federations to address the problems. Unfortunately for Mr. Borowitz, I think this one is too true to be funny.

We are more like Ontario, rather than Alabama.
The deplorables in Lansing yesterday would be the ones we would forcibly deport.

Its a work in progress.
