Have not received, SSDI with direct deposit.
Ran out and filed income tax though I'm not required to, going by the early "suggestions" in the media.
Because I am not owed a refund, the tax preparer said the IRS did not get my direct deposit information.
I received a form 1099, which I used to file the damn needless income tax for 2019.
Went to the new IRS portal, got the "Payment status not available" message.
Tried again and got locked out for 24 hours.
Then tried to enter my direct deposit info on the other IRS portal for the same purpose.
"Enter the 4 digit code we texted you", which never came after several tries.
Which is exactly what I should have expected with a bunch of incompetent assholes in the White House.
Bastards.

(20,868 posts)If you are a SSA or RRB Form 1099 recipient, SSI or VA benefit recipient the IRS is working with your agency to issue your payment; your information is not available in this app yet.

(4,687 posts)Work for myself file taxes last year on 28000 check the status and it says your eligibility cannot be determined at the present time and they have all my banking info. Everytime I see Trump / munchkin on there I want to punch him in the face. I'm sure if I was a big business I would have had plenty of money in the bank from this

(4,533 posts)You filed a 2019 tax return, right? Either the NYT or the Wash Post got a copy of internal IRS document, confirmed by a second IRS employee, saying physical checks will be mailed out based on your adjusted gross income. Those with zero to $10,000 are going to be mailed out around April24 . 10,000 to 20,000 a week later. 20,000 to 30,000 next week until they get to $198,000 the max in September.
I bet that is what will happen. They will mail to the address on your tax return.

My wife & I already got the $900 out of $2,400. By definition, we're in the high earner segment and our $ hit that checking account yesterday afternoon.
I'm not sure there's a prioritization for direct deposit. Maybe just by SS number or something?
But, after reading the same thing you wrote a week or more ago, I figured we wouldn't see it until at least July.
But got it on the first or second day!

(4,533 posts)I referred to those who filed a tax return 2018 or 2019 but did not give a bank account for direct deposit. The IRS had said people could enter bank details on get my payment to get money pronto. But I have seen reports that that will not be possible. No previously filed tax return with direct deposit? Then you must rely on a physical check. I referred to the schedule for physical checks. It may be that at some point the IRS will let us enter bank details. But if not it will be physical checks.

(19,546 posts)What I've seen says the IRS will get that info from Social Security to make the direct deposit.
But, who knows?

(4,533 posts)If you file a tax return for 2018 or 2019, even if you get ss, then the IRS will use the tax return filer rules. Under those rules if the tax return does not have direct deposit, you will get a physical check. In this case tax returns trump getting ss.

(65,010 posts)What I read didn't make a distinction between paper checks and DD. It may have always been planned this way, but what I read wasn't quite detailed enough. Or so I guess.

(7,575 posts)I need the stimulus check badly.....very low on groceries and meds and almost out of propane. I get my SS check via direct deposit but zilch stimulus money in my account.

What a nightmare this is for the elderly and the disabled that cannot go out!
$1200 barely pays the grocery bills for the past couple of months!
Had to stock up and pay the price, no matter what it is!

Okay, that's me. I haven't filed in a few years because I don't earn
enough and am not required to file. No stimulus check yet.

(13,058 posts)People who filed tax returns in 2018 or 2019 with direct deposit are in the process of getting their payments now. People in your situation should start getting their payments within the next few days. Both of my daughters who work and filed tax returns got their payment yesterday. I am on Social Security and I have not received mine yet either but I expect to get it within the next few days.

(49 posts)I am on SSDI with direct deposit and filed federal taxes for 18 and 19. After a few people I know got their checks deposited, I thought Id check the IRS website, which told me that although I qualify, they had no banking info for me- this was a few hours after my SSDI check was deposited to my checking account! I plugged in my bank account info and I will check back tomorrow.
My parents, both on SS, havent received theirs either so I am going to help them check their status and add their banking info if necessary. So if youre receiving SS or SSDI, I recommend checking the website for your status and adding banking info for direct deposit if requested. Seems the information about not needing to do anything if on SS with direct deposit may not be accurate.
Whats really unfair is that people like my brother-in-law, who is still working, earning near $100k, gets the full amount along with my sister and the $500 for two children, because they are under the $150k limit for filing jointly. Thats great, but my partner, who is furloughed, yet made over $100k last year and files single, gets nothing. We are really hurting because we rely so heavily on her income.

(6,521 posts)that the special "add bank info" section was only for those that made up to their base amount of $12,200. So, what are you supposed to think?
I shouldn't be reading these threads...looking at this like it's one of tRump's distractions. People are hurting. Gonna take the money and vote him out, anyway.
