ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.- Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham responded to the Trump administration's plan to reopen the economy.
The White House like states across the country, including ours is considering what a plan to reopen our economy might look like. We appreciate their suggestions, and we will evaluate them thoroughly, but the plain overriding fact is we cannot put the cart before the horse. As CDC, FEMA, and public health experts across the country have made clear, we are not at a point currently where it would be safe to reopen, and doing so prematurely would undo the heroic work of our health workers and first responders, endanger many more people and essentially guarantee enhanced transmission of the virus, leading to more illness and death.
Indeed, just today, we saw the highest single-day COVID-related death toll in our state. Every one of these cases is a tragedy. Every one of the victims and their families and loved ones are in my prayers. And as a state, we mourn with those families. The sad reality is we will see more; thats the awful nature of this virus, and thats why we absolutely must keep up our vigorous social distancing efforts, difficult as it is to sacrifice our sense of normalcy. We are flattening the curve but we cant stop now.
Please know that my administration is working doggedly to develop robust economic recovery plans alongside a plan for a thoughtful, staged and flexible reopening of our state and the moment we can safely implement those plans, they will be implemented with the same dedication and focus that we are using to contain this pandemic. But first things first ...

He is definitely NOT a Doctor of Statistics.
The reason more people seem to be dying while they've been on a ventilator is that they are already in the most endangered category. Of course, statistically more of them don't make it. It's just like limited testing... If you only test the sickest people, it increases the morbidity of the sickness.
I used to suspect he is a quack. Now, I'm sure he's a quack.

Expect more utterly-insane DeVos protests.
I was having an argument years ago with some moron (on deviantArt of all places) when one of his lickspittles came bellowing at me with some horseshit story about Occupy Wall Street protesters blocking ambulances so her husband couldn't get his vital transplant. (The organ wasn't identified. Even now, Google turns up no such stories, but there IS one about an impatient driver breaking up an OWS protest by lying about an approaching ambulance.) Then the moron immediately blocked me so I couldn't challenge the obvious baloney. I really want to go back and ask them how this tickles their pickles.

(25,816 posts)Moved very quickly on closing things down, and for the most part the pandemic is quasi under control. At the moment the huge problem is the northwest part of the state and the Navajo reservation. Poor services, lots of people there have no running water, stuff like that. She's trying very hard to get the problems addressed.
