Why no nationwide testing? Because it would reveal that the number of infected is vastly greater

Since Kentucky has stepped up testing, the number of people reported to have the virus has increased significantly. Those numbers may be discouraging to those who want the lockdown lifted, but the truth cannot be ignored and we cannot get beyond this crisis if we don’t account for the accurate number of infected people who are being released into the community. Also, we should test everyone, not just those who are asymptomatic, because those without symptoms can spread the virus.
Trump is childlike in not wanting to face reality. The virus cannot be wished away. Open your eyes Dorothy and uncross your fingers.

There is a reason he's doing this and it's to one in a millenia chance for rich to steal everyone's money, kill us, kill the economy, cause a major crisis then respond by shutting down elections. It's almost guaranteed we will be (on purpose) in the middle of a 2nd wave come Nov. He wants to destroy the post office before then so it can't deliver mail in votes, end early voting, close all precincts in large cities in red states, seed people in the hours long line to cause trouble, then when they instigate riots, declare martial law and close the elections as tainted (by him). This will end the 200 year experiment in democracy and will be the offical beginning of the American Fascists being in charge and ending our constitutional way of life.

This is their plan. If everyone is willing to gear up and vote blue no matter what, if we create a blue tsunami and don't fall for their tactics to create riots, we can overcome. GOTV is critical to our lives.

... to believe.

Once a person is “all in” with that mindset, facts don’t really matter.

They might quote a scientific paper occasionally, but only if it makes them feel good.

They’re the same kind of people who didn’t like the heliocentric model of our solar system because it meant they weren’t the center of the Universe.

Which is entirely true, but never forget it is a major clusterfuck from top to bottom in the administration.
They have no idea how to successfully coordinate anything, except how to bilk their supporters out of their money.

Their incompetence plays hand in hand with his desire to low ball the true spread of the disease, so there is little incentive to seek outside expertise to fix it.

numbers now will backfire spectacularly when, much closer to Election Day, the truth comes out.

One knows that in virtually every state (this means you, Florida!) dedicated civil servants and state-paid health experts will release the data anyway, maybe by even leaking it to the media. Then, your goose is cooked!

of pregnant women who went to NYC hospitals to have their baby, tested positive.

Most of them had no idea. Granted NYC is a hotspot, but we can be sure the numbers are massively more than current counts.

Also note Iceland has tested ~11.5% of their entire population. The positive rate is ~4.4% (1754 cases) but they only have 9 deaths.

So, the number likely infected in the US is probably between 14.5 million and 44.7 million.

And other things, such as the Governor of Florida not admitting in the beginning to deaths in his state.

Lives mean nothing to Trump, Inc. Only the 62.9 million Trump MAGA voters matter. To hell the the remainder of the 328.2 million lives. Trump has no qualms about letting people suffer.

Yes, the number of cases continues to increase, but the rate of increase is slowing. There aren't any increases that are outside of the statistical "noise" that comes with the small number of cases involved.

(Not disagreeeing as to the need to continue the lockdown - just noting that I don't see any increases beyond the exponential growth that has been happening all along)

I (and friends, and my employer) just operate on the assumption *WE* are infected and act in such a way as to avoid infecting everyone else.

Eventually, isolation or no, everyone will be exposed to the virus, this is all just a matter of slowing it down so that hospitals are not overwhelmed all at once and that more time is bought to figure out treatments and/or a vaccine.

Well, he already looks bad. The numbers won't change that. But nationwide testing would sure give us a handle on the spread of the virus.

Trump wants to have it both ways: 1) taking no responsibility (which he has said) and pushing all decisions off to the states; and 2) claiming all credit for ANYthing positive (curve flattening anywhere, ventilators being shipped somewhere even if he cheated them from one state to gift...er, I mean give, to another), and he will most certainly claim ALL the credit if/when a vaccine is developed and for ANY death total not being higher than it ends up being. ("Only one million deaths? I think we did pretty good! Thankfully I closed the Chinese borders (COUGH-not!-COUGH) back in January!&quot

as possible. We are disposable while they are merely deplorable.

Their policies have always been intended to assure that the voting majority in any election anywhere will be Republican. By gerrymandering, theft or propaganda along with swift-boating, ratfucking or convenient assassination they have tilted the board far in their favor. Their behavior during the preceding decades should have left no-one in doubt about how this latest atrocity will go down.

If the label says Republican it means "Fuck You, I Don't Care!", and furthermore "I am the most powerful asshole on the planet!" Their Hubris and their anger are equally terrifying.
