Yes, in he midst of the worst pandemic since 1918 flu, the orange jackass did in fact foment civil unrest and encourage behavior that purposefully puts American lives at risk. If that doesn't meet the bar of high crimes and misdemeanors, I don't know what does. Let the Rethug trash fail to convict once again. I dare them.

I am not shocked or surpised at all. Not even in the least bit.
But then, anybody who has read my comments over the last several months knows why, and in detail.
When you know General Trump well enough and you understand his real motivations and his history, then you would be expecting this.
He won't stop. It is going to get much worse. He has no other motive than total power and control. The closer we get to the GE, the more this will escalate now, considering that he may find that the impact of the pandemic requires a more chaotic approach before then. However, the weakness and confusion we are now experiencing is a dictator's dream come true when you have a real confidence man who can manipulate people well in charge.
This is El Presidente the mobster. America is HIS territory. He will rend it asunder and divide and conquer in order to take and have what belongs to him.
We are obliged to pay attention to that now and admit what we are up against. That might yield some intelligent responses and strategies. We will need them. I assure you.

(5,639 posts)Trump is merely taking advantage of an opportune time in history to throw away the last vestiges of pretense and go all out.
Openly calling for insurrection in his own country should send alarms across the seats of power in this country. If there are any patriots left in Washington now is the time for them to rise up and shout loudly.
This latest call to Liberate a Free State of our union during a time of crisis by a sitting President is unprecedented and extremely dangerous. There had better be a lot of outcry from media and Congress.
I hope we do respond with intelligence, I am just unsure that will be enough. They control Washington at this point and there is little we can do about that fact.

(38,414 posts)Provoking protest and endorsing these kind of gatherings, calling for "reopening of state economies"...shows to everyone how deranged Trump is...
...I don't need to know, and friends here at Democratic Underground don't need to know. But a few moderate Republicans..maybe 3 or 4 need to know..Those that care,,,(I am not sure any care)..will see these tweets
in a different way. It is so clear that Trump wants to start an uprising against Democratic governors and the states they are in...
Hoping for an "immediate reopening" is insane. He thinks he can control the virus in those states that have "few cases." and are not currently affected. Trump wants an economic turnaround NOW"!!!, SO HE CAN WIN THE ELECTION IN NOVEMER..
..Remember..he said there were only a few cases, and no deaths.... What is very important is that no one can control him and stop this tweeting...even now. So, what may happen,..(.notice I said "may ) that this is the very final straw and some or many Republicans who have stayed away from the fight, now know that this man is " very dangerous." A few will come over to our side to oppose Trump..Yes, a few.....maybe..
But if those few come to side of "truth",.. those few will represent millions who now see Trump as a danger to all of us.

Proud Liberal Dem
(24,396 posts)could grab him and shake it into him to STOP THINKING ABOUT THE DAMNED ECONOMY AND FOCUS ON PEOPLE GETTING SICK AND DYING FROM THIS VIRUS! I'm by no means apologizing or defending Trump AT ALL, so please don't misunderstand but:
1. Trump is NOT to blame for this virus/pandemic. He IS to blame for his part in how he responded. He can't change what has already happened. That is "baked in" at this point but he can and should do a better job today, tomorrow, and for however long as this continues.
2. The bad economy and the subsequent shutdowns are a direct result of the virus. While I have long questioned the credit given to Trump about the economy, he's not necessarily to blame for what has happened to the economy and that is not necessarily what most average Americans are worried about. What we're worried about is not dying- or having loved ones dying- or anybody dying (though we know there will continue to be cases and deaths for the foreseeable future).
All this being said, somebody needs to flat out tell him that JOB NUMERO UNO is to ensure the health and safety and well-being of every man, woman and child in this country and get everybody in every state all of the supplies, equipment, testing kits, etc. that the federal government can marshal and look for ways to increase capacity and to support means of treating and eliminating the virus.
People will forgive Trump- just like I'd hope that they would forgive any other President in a similar situation- for a (now) rotten economy. He needs to let it go for five seconds and just keep people from getting sick and dying. He will be rewarded or reviled on the basis of how he does THAT job. The economy can be rebuilt and while I don't think Trump is the person to do it in the long-term (i.e. after January 2021), he will be (or should be) judged specifically how well he handles this. He just needs to stop worrying about the economy as it relates to his re-election. People won't and shouldn't vote for a Mad Hatter who just lets people get sick and die just so megacorps can make a few more bucks.
I know that Trump won't hear this or read this and probably nobody who advises Trump will either, but I am saying my peace here.

Two things to note:
* It shows how weak fake45 is, because if he did have the total authority he wants and claims, he would just tell them what to do instead of this pitiful gesture.
* It shows, in a public and dramatic way, how little support there is against the current public health and safety measures, and how crazy those who oppose them are.

He showed us the real trump and we were not paying attention. HE REALLY DOESN'T CARE. NO ONE IN HIS ADMINISTRATION IS AFFECTED, SO HE DOESN'T BELIEVE IT'S SERIOUS. Even though people are dying elsewhere, he doesn't feel the affect. I see it everyday in alabama (strong trump support state). You can tell trump supporters by the numbers of people who are not wearing masks and are grouping together in churches and elsewhere. Fake Dr Phil and Dr Oz are reality show clowns and trump supporters---these are trump's people. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS PRESIDENT, WE HAVE GOT TO VOTE HIM OUT!!! WE CANNOT FAIL. If we allow him to be president for 4 more years the damage he will do for the benefit of the rich will be devastating. In short, the America as we know it, will no longer exist. If someone in your family has an important or needed skill you can go along with them I think but don't know all the particulars. My daughter and hubs were thinking of immigrating to Australia after an extended visit there and would have taken her Mom and I with them. In the end however, they chose a 3rd country with large pockets of sanity instead... California.
If this country doesn't turn itself around, starting in Nov, I think we will see the brain drain beginning among traditional Anglo citizens .
