It's obvious Phil himself is the reason he took up that line of study.

(7,964 posts)I made it to the David Letterman show one time and the main guest was ... "Dr." Phil. What a disappointment.

(89 posts)Spent a lifetime in design/construction.....one would have to question the sanity of someone building, let alone living, in this den

(7,864 posts)that anyone with eyes that can see our same spectrum of color would create and live in a house with such a garish interior and exterior.

(11,852 posts)He owns the property, but has never lived there. It's occupied by his musician son, Jordan, who himself is somewhat bizarre. I'd suspect Jordan was in charge of the decorating.
A few years ago, Shill did a broadcast from his actual residence and, while not up to this level of ugly, it was filled with furniture much like himself: overstuffed with delusions of grandeur, too costly for what it's actually worth, and too showy to be useful. It was all done up in heavy brocade and velvets, not exactly what you'd expect in a California home.
There's no accounting for taste or vindictiveness. Here's a home for sale in SC, designed by a couple who had a beef with the HOA regulations and went rogue. The neighbors call it "The Hobbit House". Click through the photos for a good chuckle.

(2,300 posts)I'm okay with the purple egg chair, although I wouldn't hang it in the foyer, outside would be nice. I like the blue sofa, too many pillows though, everything else in the living room goes. The dining room and staircase are just huge nopes, just tear it out, and start over. I would also like it if, whoever decided that spilled paint under the billiard table was going to be a "feature," would get a stern talking to from their interior design professor from college. it's not edgy and artistic, it's stupid. Oh yeah, and the purple sofa thing in the TV room is also a nope. I don't like furniture you have to crawl into and out of.

(89 posts)Perhaps seeing people during a crisis is seeing them in truth for the first time. The more the general public sees the real Dr Oz and Dp Shi Phil perhaps they begin to realize their vision has been a little faulty. As u know the real DT 's penthouse is not far removed from this monument to bad taste.
