I just read that you plan to strip powers away from Governor Whitmer.
Governor Whitmer was voted into office by 2,266,193 Michigan citizens who think she is doing a wonderful job and expect her to stay in office with full authority to continue to perform her job. It is YOUR irrational thinking that is in question if you think the majority of voters in this state are going to allow you to disregard our votes!!

If you're so concerned about rational behavior... look no further than the White House!! Trumps sanity or lack there of, is clearly creating worse problems for Americans during this crisis! Removal from office before thousands more of my fellow Americans die should be where you're focused at!!

And Americans nationwide are appalled and outraged about ... " The protest was organized by the Michigan Freedom Fund and Michigan Conservative Coalition, the former of which is backed by the billionaire family of Betsy DeVos, Donald Trump’s education secretary. MLive reporter Malachi Barrett highlighted the president’s influence on the rallygoers, calling it “half protest, half Trump rally,” an unsurprising connection given that Trump has recently upped demands for “OPENING UP AMERICA AGAIN!”

" The total lack of intelligence, the blatant disregard for the safety of our lives, the fact that the virus will surely spread and continue to overwhelm our healthcare HERO'S and under-equipped hospitals is the very reason that Governor Whitmer was forced to put stricter orders in in the first place!! Every single Michigan resident that dies of Covid in the future. THEIR BLOOD WILL BE ON THESE ORGANIZATIONS AND PROTESTERS HANDS!! People are calling for lawsuits against these self-serving un-American terrorists for jeopardizing the lives of others.

The republicans and trumps cult followers are not smiled down upon by We The People right now. Messing with Governor Whitmer WILL be putting more nails in the upcoming GOP coffin in this state.
My advice... if you value YOUR job... you should worry about doing it and let Governor Whitmer do hers.
Sincerely, Dawn Dodge

The GOP did the same to Wisconsin Governor Evers. After the election, when it was clear there would be a Democratic Governor, the legislature, in a lame duck session, rammed through several bills reducing the Governor's power, and Scott Walker signed them as he was going out the door.

Hopefully, Whitmer can veto and sustain it.

Sheshe2, a few days ago you posted about a canary in a coal mine. It was only on DU for a couple of hours and I would love if you would post it again.
I wish we could get rid of all the damned reps. I think we are all worn out by their shenanigans. It never ends!!! I really agree with all your posts, please post the coal mine one again. It was perfect. Thank You.

From Rewire:

Michigan

North Carolina’s GOP lawmakers weren’t the only ones to lose their supermajority on Tuesday. Michigan Republicans’ state senate supermajority came to an end as Democrats managed to gain three seats in the midterms. Governor-elect Gretchen Whitmer (D) will be able to operate without the threat of a veto-proof GOP majority.

Republicans now have a 22-17 majority in the Michigan state senate. They also control the house. Michigan Republicans in September curiously approved paid sick leave and a minimum wage increase, opening the possibility that they could undermine the popular laws. That might not be as easy without a supermajority and with Whitmer in the governor’s mansion.

The five state senate seats flipped this cycle is the highest number of Democratic seat pickups in Michigan since 1974, according to DLCC.

And if they keep up with this bullshit, they'll lose their majority altogether before my state is un-gerrymandered.
