Stores in Texas can begin selling merchandise with curbside service, and hospitals can resume nonessential surgeries. In Florida, people are returning to beaches and parks. And protesters are clamoring for more.
Governors eager to rescue their economies and feeling heat from demonstrators and President Donald Trump are moving to ease restrictions meant to control the spread of the coronavirus, even as new hot spots emerge and experts warn that moving too fast could prove disastrous.
Protests against stay-at-home orders organized by small-government groups and Trump supporters were planned for Saturday in several cities after the president urged supporters to liberate three states led by Democratic governors.
But protests were planned in Republican-led states, too, including at the the Texas Capitol. Republican Gov. Greg Abbott already has said that restrictions would begin easing next week.

(21,549 posts)if you held a protest in this country against sunshine and rainbows you could get a 1000 people to show up but that doesn't mean the government should be thinking about banning sunshine and rainbows.
one poll i saw said that 2/3 of Michiganders support governor Whitmer. So because a few yahoos with the cumulative IQ of a gnat showed up to spread the virus to themselves and their families doesn't mean Whitmer should be thinking about ignoring the advice of scientists, medical professionals, and THE MAJORITY of her voters and moving to reopen too quickly.
Don't misconstrue this as saying protestors should be ignored....... plenty of protests against injustice deserve a change in policy (civil rights, women's march), what i mean is merely having a protest with a small number of people doesn't entitle those people to minority rule, which is what the small group in Michigan is demanding.

(33,643 posts)called out when he said HE had absolute authority on when to re-open states.
So now he's called out his goons to 'prove' that he was 'right' to have said that.
To 'prove' that any Governor with the temerity to go against his wishes would suffer the wrath of his fucking cult of knuckle-dragging, drooling idiots.
This is all about Trump's ego, and a pissing match against the Media and the 'Left' for questioning his authority.
And he doesn't care how many people get sick and die ... they are but sacrifices at the the Altar of that Shit-For-Brains' Ego.
