Help me out here...

Apparently the GOP has decided that the proper response to the pandemic is to send their base out into the streets to cough on each other.

Have they decided that they just don't need 1-2% of their voters this November?

It's not 1%. Not even 1% are getting sick. In some places, it's 1 in 100,000. (Nationally, it's 2 in 1,000 based on the NY Times numbers.) Those are the places where the protests are happening. The people do not feel protected. They feel abused. And their economy is tanking.

Some people have already said that a few lives are not as important as the economy.

Personally, I feel for them. They think they won't get sick. But some of those protesters are going to die.

Ignorance is not always bliss.

And they are led by a narcissistic sociopath who only thinks in terms of making money and giving the finger to the blue states.

It's only a matter of time before it happens, with Trump inciting people to violence. He won't take responsibility for it, of course. But I think the general public will blame him.

Right now, Trump believes that he is in a battle with blue states because their governors are performing so well. His ego says he must win no matter what the cost.

Every time he gets away with something, it's an invitation for him to push the envelope even further. And once you get away with locking up and 'disappearing' children, what's next?

He's got pseudochristians cheering him as he feeds them to lions and he's on the edge of declaring himself God. People have compared him to Nero, but I'm thinking he's a lot closer to Caligula.

Interviews with the marchers suggest they don’t want to feel controlled as if they’re children, so it’s got that libertarian thing going on, plus a healthy dose of wanting to act stronger than the dems, like they’re more macho. If you walk into the belly of the beast when it’s at its worst I guess that makes you a real man. They’re also giving the finger to “librul” media, not believing it could be at the cost of their lives, apparently.

Was not much of a gamble for Moscow Mitch to "let the voters decide" on a Supreme Court nominee in 2016. Moscow Mitch knew the fix was in. Trump and his cabal know the fix is in for 2020. Tgey can afford to lose a few voters to covid.

For the Trumpists who think rural people are safe, they should look at the figures on the Navajo Reservation. Can' t get much more rural than they are, with people's homes separated from each other by dozens of miles throughout the reserve.

They think it will just be in the cities killing those sinful liberals but will somehow stop when it reaches forests and farmland. It's too late for that. It's already doing damage in the rural areas, which are less prepared due to lower hospital capacity and lax social distancing orders. It spreads through churches, sports games, social events, these protests at the state capitals, etc.

While the protesters might be relatively young, healthy, males. The rural areas are also filled with elderly who have underlying health conditions and less of them have health insurance. This pandemic has already shown regional devastation in some rural localities.
