People are ditching their homes and joining their friends to avoid isolation. It's called quaranteam

(CNN)They are best friends and coworkers who normally go to Coachella together every year.

But in 2020, the coronavirus pandemic has made their regular sojourn to the desert for the April music festival impossible.

So, Charles Lichaa and Lo Noulinthavong decided to throw their own "homecoachella."

At Lichaa's West Hollywood, California, apartment last week, the two 30-year-olds sported colorful bandanas as masks, like they would in Coachella where the wind often blows dust around the festival grounds. Then they danced around, rewatching sets of their favorite artists, such as Rüfüs Du Sol and Blackpink.

Two weeks ago, Lichaa and Noulinthavong formed what some are calling a "quaranteam," loosely defined as the group of people you choose to live with during the coronavirus pandemic.

lot of spreaders out there today. You can dress it up with cute names but they're spreaders just the same.

The larger the household or team, the greater the risk that a member will pick up the virus and bring it back to the roost.

Living together, only leaving the home for essential functions (work, if an essential employee), or essential functions (getting medicine and food), it is no different than a family.

A "quaranteam" was actually described functionally as a family unit by our governor or director of health, and as appropriate.

I don't know that this team is working that way - we're primarily given information about the party they wanted to throw - but if they have been quarantining in isolation, and are now quarantining together with all other restrictions in place, I don't see that it is any different from a family.
