Economic Impact Payment (stimulus) poll.

Last edited Sun Apr 19, 2020, 02:55 PM - Edit history (2)

On edit-apparently people who filed a joint tax return and do not have direct deposit information on file with the IRS are going to get a paper check made out to them jointly at some future date. I was not aware of that when I first posted this.

be in the mail. Not sure why they would put it in the mail since I gave them routing info, but as long as I get one, it's all good.

but if you get Social Security, they have your bank deposit information. No one gets physical checks anymore. Some very small percentage have money deposited to a debit card. Not sure if those people will get the $1200 loaded on the card or as a physical check.

In any case, I get Social Security and I got mine, because they already had my bank information.

because "I receive Social Security or Railroad Retirement but have not provided bank information to the IRS. I received my money." is misleading. If you receive Social Security, you are almost certainly getting it by direct deposit, and therefore there is no need to provide any information to the IRS.

If it read "I receive Social Security or Railroad Retirement and I received my money." That would be an accurate reflection of how people on SS are getting their money.

In my case, I also file income taxes, and sometimes get a small refund, so the IRS already has my deposit information.

Mine arrived right before midnight Tuesday, simultaneous with my SS deposit, which I get the third Wednesday of every month. Clearly the two are linked. Or apparently were for me.

benefits are not linked. They got the stimulus although their Social Security arrives on a different Wednesday. You may have gotten your payment via your refund info, not Social Security. I suspect the IRS computer checks their own records first.

I will try to make the question clearer.

It is possible I got mine because of refund info.

What I definitely did not need to do was to provide bank information to the IRS separately. They, and SS, already had it.

I get my SS on the 3rd Wedneday and got my stimulus payment at the same time.

One of the things I read was that the stimulus payments would go first to those who filed and had the lowest income range. I believe I fit in that category.

Nah I think it will come. I had filed about two weeks before, so maybe it will come in May. I have a pension with a smaller SS payment so maybe that is why i am not in the lowest income category. The thing is, if you are one of those who fit in those benefit categories like SSor railroad benefits, there is no way to check or to contact anyone as far as I can tell. The tab for checking does not apply to us and they are not responding to calls.

on my 2019 taxes because I had a balance due. (2019 taxes filed March 2019).

I've been getting Social Security for about 3 years direct deposit.

Thursday I think it was that I also filled out something on the Get My Payment website (because it said it didn't have my direct deposit info!)

Yet as of Sunday 4/19 200p, nothing shows up in my bank account.

But I should be receiving mine on Wednesday according to the website.

Hopefully my mom receives hers that day also since it is the day of her Social Security. The site does not have info on SS recipients who don’t file.
