Being a truck driver who travels to many parts of this country...

I have seen some of ridiculous things! Today, i was at truck stop in Iowa to fuel and take my break. I fueled, than parked. I went to wash my hands like I always do. Here where it is! I was waiting for a spot at the sink to open. The was a guy washing his face then he slapped some water into his mouth and a seconds later he spit into the sink! I wasn’t the only who saw this, but when he turns to leave another driver jumped all over him for do that! The guy just laughed and walked out of the restroom. I waited for another sink to open! Yuck & with everything going on right now, double YUCK!

I blew a snot rocket on a run a few days ago and realized that I really shouldn't do that.

It was a sweat band with a loop that goes over the middle finger. There was material in between to wipe your nose after the rocket launch.
Useless really. Runners use their tshirts.

BTW I have left in runs wearing two gloves to only finish with one. Most notably at my moms. Deer season but hey nature called. I made a a LOT of noise as I entered the tree line. Those cheap brown “work” gloves are the best...regardless of which end it’s used on.

We use the same terminology, so cheers for that.

He did it without thinking into a scrub area in our neighborhood, not anyone's lawn. But I flipping lost it, and he instantly grasped what he'd done and felt awful.

Can't imagine my reaction if he had hocked a loogie. Please tell me you use that phrase too.

I cannot fathom how he is able to do that, and he turns green at my ability to just swallow post nasal drip. Ain't being human grand?

but, after he laughs at you and leaves...

I would pull out my alcohol wipes and wipe every surface, the use the soup dispenser to fill my hands with soap, scrub every part of the sink including the tap and handles for 30 seconds (or longer since you can't be working the soap everywhere at once). then rinse with scalding hot water ( as close to boiling as you can get ). then, with normal temp water and soap, wash your own hands for 20 seconds.

And, after all that, if he wasn't wearing a mask... I wouldn't even be in the bathroom... just breathing from an unmasked infected person can transfer this virus to someone else up to 3 hours after the infected person has passed by.

you would have to go out to the coffee makers and get water from the red handled spigot on one of them. More often than not, a decent, modern truck stop is going to have no-touch faucets and they are temperature controlled.

The OP and I work in an industry overwhelmingly populated by morons, that's just all there is to it. You don't have to have a post-graduate degree to be a truck driver. Hell, you can barely graduate HS and get a job in this industry, and the number of people fitting that description is mind-boggling.

I'm seeing a hell of a lot more masks today than I was ten days ago, but it is still only 50 or maybe 60% of the guys wearing one.

Truck drivers tend to be fucking idiots, It's as simple as that. As a group they lean right wing, suffer a disproportionate number of maladies, ranging from obesity to smoking to bad diet, etc., they tend to listen to Limbaugh and Hannity on the radio and couldn't find an NPR station if their lives depended on it.

I wear a mask every single time I go into the Pilot or the Love's, when I use the bathroom I am observant and conscious of who is around me, I wash my hands and get the hell out of there!

I hate truck stops anyway, so I tend to spend as little time as I can in them. I fuel, I get my coffee, and I get it back on the boulevard.

....but I've seen people walk straight out of a stall after doing their duty, pass the sink and walk out. Thought it was just males. But right before the company gave the work from home orders, I and some of my male coworkers brought this up. Then a female coworker said, "It isn't just men, I've seen women do it to".

Hence why I always use a paper towel to open the door when leaving the restroom.

The water in the restroom is always hot these days meaning people are washing their hands now.

Since water was always cold before, it means most were not before this all happened.

You might not have seen him do that and been the next one in line to wash your hands.

It might be a good idea to proceed as if the person before you is a Coronavirus carrier. I know it can lead to paranoia but better to avoid getting sick.
