We already knew the racist trumpists see this as a black disease they

don't have to worry about. Here's an example.

How Trump Turned the Pandemic Into Identity Politics
Forget the people dying. Forget the economic collapse. Trump, Republicans, and Conservatism Inc. have turned COVID-19 into just another front of the culture war.

At the protest in Brookfield, one man explained that it was time to reopen the state because the coronavirus was limited to urban areas. “This isn’t common throughout the state. It’s common in Milwaukee. It’s common in Madison. Lock them down. I don’t need to be locked down.”

A similar sentiment was expressed in an email to the editor of Right Wisconsin (a publication I used to edit.). A man from Iron River, a town in northern Wisconsin, wrote:

THE AFRICAN AMERICAN IN THE WOODPILE (notice how politically correct i am) Am i the only one who has noticed where most covid 19 cases and deaths have occurred? every large city with a black or minority population. why is this. Are rural americans supposed to give up our rights and freedoms to support the slums? i’m more worried about bubonic plague in the homeles s population. give us a break and start treating
rural and urban populations differently. i am from a county with no covid deaths. opens us up. [Sic throughout, obviously
.]

Couldn't happen to a nicer bunch of folks.

A village.

We have sick and we have dead, and all from Covid 19.

Anyone thinking they're safe is an idiot.

All racists are ignorant pieces of shit.

at a higher rate because many still are out there working in those "essential" jobs that keep the economy from completely shutting down—bus drivers, long-haul truckers, fast food workers, healthcare workers, retirement home workers, delivery workers, PO workers, grocery workers, etc.

Many are at risk and can't work from home, much less just stay home. And when they were coming home in Jan. and Feb. they, like most people, hadn't started wearing masks and gloves like people are now. Some employers wouldn't even let them wear masks so some family members were probably infected and the chain of infection grew and on and on (Gov. Cuomo recommended hazard pay and a fifty percent bonus).

The point is, if you're out there working or doing whatever, the chances of getting the virus is high, especially if you're doing it everyday and not just going to the grocery store every two weeks.

The virus is blind. It does not respect race, gender, religion, or borders. If it gets in your community, it will do its damage. But you know, facts are inconvenient things for these folks.
