(9,006 posts)it's stupidity
a whole lot of these people who have been protesting to open the country or think it's fake won't get sick.
where's their karma?
WhiteTara
(29,703 posts)that come to fruition. She was stupid and she died needlessly. Or rather, karmically.

Hmmm....so close to "comically"
WhiteTara
(29,703 posts)I understand you think my answer "comical." It's difficult for me to explain concepts, but like viruses which you can't see, karma works on levels beyond my words.
RussBLib
(9,006 posts)think your answer was "comical"; sorry for the misunderstanding. I was just simply noticing that the two words are very close in spelling, and in some cases, you could almost interchange the two words, especially when people are, for instance, awarded a Darwin for dying in some absurd manner.
The concept holds pro and con so, in effect, is practically meaningless. People acted in protest. Their action resulted in them getting sick and die.
Other people also acted in protest, but will not get sick. They are still reaping the effects of their actions, but there is no illness. It is still karmic in the sense that their actions are still influencing their future.
I just don't ascribe a supernatural effect of karma like some seem to want to. Not saying you do. But in a basic sense, this persons death is in fact "karmic" as their death resulted from their action in protest.

(68,543 posts)in some way...it is happenstance, the luck of the draw. There really is no such thing as Karma IMHO.

These people are nothing short of sinister cult followers with hate in their hearts.
Good riddance!

(12,212 posts)I know those types, because an old friend of ours (and I use the word friend loosely now), believes the whole thing is a worldwide hoax, and that the doctors are in on it. She said she is "grateful for the eyeopening news she's getting from those she calls "truth seekers.""
She has a poor paying job, and they live on food stamps and welfare, tooher and her senior mother, who is also behind those beliefs.

(21,428 posts)their view a bit. Instead of claiming that the coronavirus is just media hype to destroy the Trump economy, they will now believe that it's a real pandemic, started by libs and the deep state to destroy Trump and kill his supporters.
Newest Reality
(12,712 posts)She also had succumbed to the power of propaganda and confirmation bias. One wonders if the whole ideology behind her thinking comes into question for her crowd--even just a little.
The Famous Last Words file is really filling up fast. There should be a website for that. Not to make fun of people's death and loss, but as a lesson and reminder that needs more attention generally. This is not the last pandemic we are going to face and again, its not if, but when.

(12,286 posts)The coronavirus doesn't care if you are a liberal, or conservative, Sanders supporter, a socialist, arch conservative, old, young, black, white, or green with purple polka dots.
It does what it does.
And if you are elderly, having underlying health conditions, get a large viral load (like many first responders and health care workers), or are just unlucky, this thing has a very good chance of killing you.
People need to take this seriously.
But this whole mindset of not trusting experts and denying science needs to stop. Maybe this will wake some people up.

(21,428 posts)fit so well into the stereotypes of disaster movies. There are the deniers who can't handle the reality, the conspiracy theorists who always create their own realities, and the arrogant ones who believe they know more than the experts. And there are always the ones who treat every situation as a challenge to their autonomy so they need ti rebel for its own sake.

(11,730 posts)I would invite all of the people who think that this is "media driven" or "an attempt by Democrats to destroy Trump" or who are, "protected in the blood of Jesus" to go out among those with COVID-19 and test their hypotheses.
While I know that it causes pain to lose a loved one, the fact that a loved one is in such denial, ignorance, and is spreading stupidity to others, then dies from the very thing they are claiming to be a hoax, that to me is not a tragedy. It is stupidity with lethal consequences.

(19,038 posts)These people dying don't deserve to die, all they did is believe what Trump and FOX told them, that shouldn't be a death sentence.
