About 1,000 new cases. we are testing at 18.2% in last 24 hours. Perhaps finding people that died at home. I don't know but these numbers say stay closed up.

(64,960 posts)Per these numbers.
Over 2,600 per day.
It's just the flu!
Well except for the part about killing 25x the people per day.

(32 posts)Just the flu - with no vaccine or herd immunity and the biggest social activities lock down in American history. Meanwhile the flu has no social distancing measures utilized against it and has a vaccine and herd immunity working against it. But it's the same. Mkay.

(64,960 posts)It's not just killing 80% in a day that flu kills in a month, but that's WITH social distancing.
Pretty critical.
BTW: I played in bands for 30 years. Keyboards & guitar, and one of 2 lead singers in all but one band. In that one, I was the only singer.
What kind of drums?
I play in a 3-piece rock band in the 'couve (Vancouver, Washington) been dormant obviously. Not sure what the gig landscape is gonna look like at this point. Just a hobby, so no concern to me. But there are people in the local scene who make a living off of it. I can't imagine what that looks like now. Devastating probably doesn't cover it.

(64,960 posts)From 1985 to 2006 the same 4 guys played 80 gigs a year. I coordinated gigs & my business travel schedules so I could still travel for work but get back to play.
The guy who played guitar fully (the other lead singer) did a full time thing for a year.
Said the first couple months were fun, then it sucked. By the 6th month, he said book nothing beyond 6 months from now. Never again.
I can't imagine how these folks would survive now. Not sure how many in the US are eligible for UEI. Do they all pay in, or is it gig economy stuff.

(28,787 posts)my foxbot co-worker finally stopped trying to sell me on that, especially since another co-worker had it and he was sick for weeks.

(24,653 posts)I'm not surprised Florida's numbers are "stable" for lack of a better word. I've seen very little movement in terms of rate changes since I started tracking in mid-March. My state has its fingers in its ears bellowing "la, la, la." And its about to get much worse with DeSantis and his Reopening Task Force lead by Disney and Universal Studios.

(28,787 posts)seems to me, the people who are stupid enough to think it's safe are probably also too broke to afford it. but, what do i know?

(6,474 posts)I think today's numbers will be pretty high across the US. There is a discernible pattern of this in some states

(15,535 posts)when we "only" had 77 deaths but today's news is horrendous.
And to think those Michigan idiots who were on the steps of the capitol wanted our governor to relax everything and open for business.
