What happened to the Libbety vs Tranny sign? nt

3. I had to buy a new tranny in 1985.

I was driving west on I-70, two or three miles from Limon, Colorado, when there suddenly was a loud CLUNK and I was screeching to a halt from 75 mph in first gear. If there had been a big truck right behind me, there'd probably still be a greasy spot on the highway that is all that's left of me. After I recovered my wits, I drove along the shoulder in first gear into Limon and checked into a motel. The next morning, the repairman at the auto shop said it would take him two or three days to put a new tranny in. I think he had to order some parts. I left the car with him and took a bus the rest of the way to my destination, which was Reno. I rented a car to drive around Reno for a few days and took another bus back to Limon about a week later to pick up my car, with the new tranny in place, good as new.

I don't know what libety is, though. Is it similar to libel and slander?
