Trump Has Set A Trap For Governors.....

He's laid out a plan for re-opening which includes testing and a timeline. He's also riled up his supporters to pressure the Governors to open up their respective States. Some Govs are jumping the gun and are opening up without heeding the plan laid out. Perhaps the Red State Govs are doing this to garner praise from Trump.

We all know there is a lag time between being exposed to the virus and exhibiting symptoms and really suffering from the virus. That lag time could be any where from 7 to 14 days before those exposed begin exhibiting symptoms.

So lets say 14 days from now - in those States that relaxed stay at home orders and began re-opening we start seeing a spike in cases and ultimately deaths - what does Trump say and do?

He says - well we laid out a plan and this second rise in cases is all on the backs of the Govs that didn't follow the plan.

He adeptly shifts blame to the Govs. After all - he had a plan in place and it was the Govs that didn't do the right thing.

Gotcha!!!!!

At least, in my opinion.

When you are dealing with a confidence man and you don't think they are one, you are the mark.

He has a certain kind of skill that only requires the utilization of techniques. He has done that for decades. It's a reflex action for him. That's why we are in this mess. A real idiot with no ulterior motive would have been a wash by now.

When you combine his sociopath nature with no altruistic values and little concern for the effect he has on people with a mobster, money laundering background, brazen stiffing of contractors, a stint on a reality TV show, you can see he has crafted a personality that works to his own benefit and that includes easily misreading him.

Oh, if he only were just a moron. What a blessing that would be. It would have saved us a lot of misery and prevented what's to come.

he doesn't have skills for many tasks we might consider basic, and he exhibits no empathy whatsoever

but as a previous poster noted, he is an accomplished con-man who uses time-tested tactics to get what he wants regardless of the collateral damage. he's fooled 'em by the dozens. he's fooled 'em by the thousands. he's fooled 'em by the millions, even before he got into politics. it's just a matter of scale, which is why he covets media attention of any kind -- more coverage is him reaching out to more fools.

the sooner we stop pretending he's actually stupid, the sooner we can begin to make repairs. i trust Biden's campaign staff to treat Shitbag with the caution it deserves.

i was once a firm subscriber to the aphorism, "never attribute to malice that which can be adequately explained by stupidity," but that failed completely back in 2016. look for the con. look for the angle. it's there, guaranteed.

How does he spin it in 2-4 weeks when second spikes begin in the (mostly red) states that opened up, if new cases and deaths go down in the other states?
Just like his fake malaria drug cure, I think this is just a Hail Mary attempt. He is hoping that one of the things he pulls out of his ass will work, but I don’t see how this one can.

In his mind - if it turns out he has to blame things on the Red State Governors - he will. As long as he can shift the blame.

Here's a link to the plan the feds (Trump Admin) laid out for Reopening America:
https://www.scribd.com/document/456756096/White-House-guidelines-for-reopening-economy#from_embed

It clearly delineates the steps to consider and that should happen before re-opening.

So yes - some Red State Govs - to curry favor of Trump and his supporters are jumping the gun too soon - and yes in 2 - 4 weeks we'll most likely see a second spike. But now Trump just refers back to this plan - and he blames the Red State Govs for the spike. He doesn't care if their Red State Govs - as long as he has some way to pass blame onto someone other than himself.

Like I said in my OP - he's setting them up for the fall.

By the time he passes blame on to them - people will forget that he advocated to open America quickly because he will say - yes - I wanted them to open America - but I put a plan out that they should follow and they didn't. And he's got this polished plan - printed in Red, White and Blue - that backs him up.

You may not think that he doesn't have a brain - but he's got a brain to connive his way out of shouldering blame. He's been doing this all his life and he's got that down to an art and science.

Remember - he's the consummate con artist.

mostly in blue states. They're still on the "science will tell us" mode. Good for them.

The ones jumping the gun (pun intentional?) are all red states that I can see.

In WA, we're hearing discussions of how and when to start back up, but we still need testing. Lots and lots of testing. You know, all that "Deep State" BS about planning and rational thought and shit.

I don't think he can do that. But, he can blame a new spike in the disease on his immigration ban not being implemented.

Does anyone think Trump gives a shit if one million Americans wind up dying from this - I mean cares outside of how it impacts his re-election chances?

done to the country with his bungling ways. This is just another example of the inept WH, trump and staff, trying to shift the blame for their fuck-ups and non-action to the governors.

It's so obvious Stevie Wonder can see it.

If he was so smart we wouldn't be in this mess. Obama headed off th ebola virus with just two deaths here and left trump a playbook on how.

He was so smart he disregared it and now we're at 43k deaths and rising. Being a two bit conman doesn't make you smart. It just means you fool some people dumber than you.

> Most of us see what he's done to the country
ALL of us see what he's done to the country. somewhere around 40% of us still think it's super.
stupidity certainly is one explanation and i used to give it precedence by default over malice when evaluating causality.

> If he was so smart we wouldn't be in this mess
unless he somehow benefited from us being in this mess...

> Being a two bit conman doesn't make you smart. It just means you fool some people dumber than you
are we talking about the same guy here? he's not a "two bit conman": he had six bankruptcies, then a hit TV show where he portrayed himself as a successful businessman, and now he's the president of the USA. he fooled 60+ million people dumber than him simultaneously. that makes him one of the best con men who's ever lived. try "legendary conman".

all i'm saying is don't underestimate Tangeranus or downplay his "accomplishments". he's unskilled in many areas we might consider basic, and has absolutely no capacity for empathy. go ahead and keep thinking he's stupid, but i recommend watching what he does and keeping an eye on your wallet in the meantime.
