My sister came out of retirement in Washington State to resume her nursing career

and treat covid-19 patients. She has a very dangerous job doing home visits to patients who have tested positive but who are not sick enough to need to be in the hospital. And my sister is in her late sixties herself so due to her age she is probably more at risk to the disease. But she chose to do this anyway. I just want to salute her and all health care workers around the world who are putting their own safety and often the safety of their families at risk so they can treat victims of this pandemic.

I have family in Washington, high risk group, would certainly qualify for her ministrations. It's a big state, so it's not likely that she's working in their particular neighborhood. But knowing that there are those like her is a tremendous comfort to those of us who worry from half a continent away. A hero, to be sure.
