It was a lot of fun. Some really interesting twists and turns. Ya know the part that really had me scared? The part where the President sent his state liberators out with their long guns! Cuz the virus itself wasn't fucking scary enough. Wow. Ya had me there. I really liked the part where the nation was trying to stick together, and take care of each other, knowing that we are stronger together. And there is enough of everything for everyone if we just stay focused and figure it out. But those DeVos people and their fangs. They want what they want. (and that's all of it)

Kill the monster outright by using one of the methods found in legends. Which may or may not work.
Come to the end only to start all over again.
That fucking beam.
Hit the sewers. You'll need the belief of a child and a past relationship with the bad guy. You'll also need a placebo mist that acts as battery acid, a photo book of local history, jokes, speech therapy tricks, unexpected bravery, a book of birds, and well, badassery.
Flip into and out of a parallel universe. Defeat the bad guys. Must be done by a child or someone with a childlike world view.
Nuke Vegas.
Burn down the local high school with people inside. Doesn't end well for the pig either.
Whatever you choose, stay away from the pet/ancient burial grounds.
Other SK inspired ways. None of them as cut and dried as it could be.
In all cases, you have to accept the reality of it all.
In other words, defeat the bad guys. Vote Democratic.

(935 posts)I'm pretty confident if everything is done fairly, we'll vote him out. November is an eternity away in this book though. He can do so much damage in such a short amount of time. Come on November.

(90,758 posts)It can feel that way. A leap of faith/taking a stab at the bad guys. Only to find that good doesn't always win.

We will come out of this, it's just that we don't know exactly where, or exactly when. And we might have some strange, otherworldly creature stuck in our teeth.

(612 posts)Each peak and spike starts the process all over again, and there are too many idiots out there that just don't care. They have no concept that what they do today doesn't necessarily show up until weeks later, and the people they infected, and the people they infected... the exponential growth is something simply not being understood, nor do they wish to be educated.
How many acute renewals of peaks can we withstand? How many sustained plateaus, with thousands dying daily even at those levels?
How long before our hospital workers and first responders, our cashiers and delivery people, our truckers and food processors start dropping, and becoming unable to help - because that's what they do.
It is still going to get worse before it gets better - and it is fucking scary. The unknowns drive us all to distraction.
