This is what should have happened to save the economy.

Bail out people not businesses.

Give every American a monthly check of $2000 for 4 mos. Start there. For those that do not need it, you simply take it back in taxes next year if their 2020 income exceeded a certain level.

Businesses can apply for emergency bank loans

Force lenders to loan to their business customers through the Fed. Again, those businesses that don't need it will be forced to pay it back. Those do need it will be allowed to pay it back at a slower pace.

Allow for emergency bankruptcy protection

Individuals and businesses can be allowed to file for emergency bankruptcy protection which would freeze all payments to creditors for the period of 6 mos without penalty.

We had a long Facetime chat with our friends there last Sat. They said the government was paying everyone during the pandemic, everyone was getting a min. check each month. They are concerned about the government going bankrupt, but they have turned the corner and almost beat this. In their entire country, they had 13 new cases on Fri. 13!!!!! Their Prime Minister (really good one) has said they wouldn't reopen until there are no new cases. They are really strict with their social distancing. Even at stores, you can only buy items deemed "essential". So they can get cleaner for their windows, but not wax for the car. All parks and beaches are closed. You can walk in your neighborhood but can't hang out in your backyard. You aren't allowed to stop and talk to neighbors, even with social distancing. There is no pick up at restaurants, only delivery outside your home paid via credit card and that isn't easy to find. I forgot to ask about testing. I will ask them and let you know what they say about that.

We were planning on visiting them in Jan. but this mess came up and so we postponed. They invited us to come over next year for a few weeks and we will certainly do that if it's safe. If things go badly to hell here, if drumpf steals the next election, we will strongly consider moving there.

and the poor and to take everything we own for themselves while turning us into slaves. They want us to be Russia with drumpf and cronies to be like PUtin and his oligarchs. They want us sick and dying with no assets and no education (they will stop free public education) and no assistance on healthcare or rights for treatment.
