Rachel Maddow Busts MAGA Myth That Americans Are Willing To Risk Their Lives For The Economy

From the article:

During her program on Tuesday, MSNBC host Rachel Maddow busted the MAGA myth that the American people are itching to have the economy reopened, even if that means putting their lives at risk.

“The polling of the American public doesn’t suggest that that’s what people believe at all, even if that’s how the media is portraying it,” the MSNBC host said.
She added, “Don’t take it from the polling. Don’t take it from me. Front line health workers across the country are telling this story very, very well themselves about this not being something that is just on the coasts and this being something that we need to take seriously.”

Even among the 37% of fanatic Trump supporters, many of them know someone who has been sick. Lies only work as long as people want to believe in them. And the number of believers is diminishing.

citizens out of the house and spending, is "paying them" (by providing vouchers) to go out to stores, etc... They do not want to take this risk.

Trump's ideas about resurrecting the American economy are based on a number of false premises, including this one in particular.

2. Trump appears to think that the economy is like an electric switch.

Open the switch, the power is on. But it is not that simple. The economy, and the stock market, respond when people are confident.

3. I figure my life is worth more than 400 a month. Look at the unemployment I should get.

From what I was seeing, I will be shy 400 a month from normal pay. For someone like me, that is a lot. But still. Three months not working is about 4500. Now I am seeing 1200. I certainly would prefer being 1200 shy, than dead. Or a 40k hospital bill.

Those people obviously believe milling around in crowds of idiots is not good for their health. Likely, most are protesting for changes to the current shut-down orders, rather than complete elimination.

Very different from Trump's idiots.

The media also aren't pointing out that the demonstrators are are far, far, far, FAR under 1% everywhere.

Since Communism is about collective effort, isn't social distancing the exact opposite of Communism?

and ability to think in those people who are naturally not oriented to care about either. I think we didn't always realize the immensity of the problem. We probably can't for some, need to improve our batting average with the rest of us.

Gov. Cuomo reminded me of this the other day. Conservative-oriented brains reportedly run new input through an emotional center first for reaction, then send it on for cognitive analysis, including evaluating input against our funds of knowledge. Liberal brains send input for evaluation first, then the result of that on for reaction.

So, generally speaking, how well do deliveries like Cuomo's, feeding people information at length, fare with conservatives? Wouldn't many conservatives need something to react satisfactorily to up front in order to engage, and repeats to stay engaged?

And how many of any of us hang around for deep digs into new input if we've been assisted to being positively carried away by initial reaction? As RW media routinely do.

For sure not this silly person/victim.
