Looking for a Silver Lining - Day One - Haircut

Today I had to take a step back hearing some folks saying that we need to immediately end social distancing or stay at home orders because people want to get a haircut.

I took a deep breath and thought, you know I get it. I was starting to look like the caveman from a Geico commercial myself a few weeks ago, and it totally bothered me, particularly when work demands required a zoom call. Ewww.

So, if there is a tiny silver lining, is that I got a haircut with the aid of my wife, and it was not bad. I was somewhat afraid that she might try to carve her initials on the back of my head, because you know, she was also getting bored, but she showed remarkable restraint, and we watched the following video:

And then went for it. I was quite surprised and I did not even have to buy or use a Flowbee. The video above was helpful, because unlike some professional videos, the presenter described how to gradually do a fade cut, rather than just jumping in with a short buzzer and zeking myself. Is it as good as my barber. Nope. But, I no longer look like I am trying to bring the mullet back.

So, there you have it. Now, I can handle a zoom call like a boss without having to wear a knit cap or baseball cap. Who knew?

You don't want to jeopardize your life by having someone who deals 1:1 with the public constantly breathing over your head?

Nice your wife learned to cut your hair! 👍

6. What worried me was how eager she was to do it.

This told me one of two things:

(1) She also was getting tired of what was beginning to look like a mullet circa 1980s. She saw my high school photo and she was not feeling the nostalgia that two months without a haircut was starting to rekindle.
(2) She was going to relieve her boredom by carving her initials into the side of my head.

Thankfully, it was the former and not the latter.

Not sure I want his style of hair cut though. I am not a college man, lol.

Perhaps, I'll show him this video and see what he can do...

so I guess I did ok. My own hair is getting pretty long, but I'll just put it in a ponytail soon, and be one of those hip old women. Or so I tell myself.

I bought it as kind of a novelty years ago.

Between that and installing a bidet last year, I feel like Edgar Cayce.

Looks good. Just like when I was a kid, every summer in AZ.
