BREAKING NEWS: Senator Elizabeth Warren's brother has died of coronavirus.

Reported on MSNBC.

Edited to add excerpt from Boston Globe story provided by bigtree:

Donald Reed Herring, the oldest brother of Senator Elizabeth Warren, died on Tuesday night in Norman, Okla., about three weeks after testing positive for coronavirus.

Herring, a 20-year veteran of the U.S. Air Force, was 86.

Warren, who has been a vocal critic of the Trump administration’s halting response to the pandemic for months, has not previously revealed that her family was waging its own personal battle against the virus. She confirmed his death in a statement provided to the Globe and said the cause was coronavirus.

“I’m grateful to the nurses and other front-line staff who took care of my brother, but it is hard to know that there was no family to hold his hand or to say “I love you” one more time. And now there’s no funeral for those of us who loved him to hold each other close,” Warren said. “I will miss my brother.”

South Korea got their first case on Jan. 20, same day as us. South Korea lost only 240 people to date to the virus because they had a competent, able government who took it seriously, resulting in one of the lowest death rates in the world at 4.6 per 1 million population. Trump, on the other hand, lied that it was the flu and sat on his stubby orange hands for 2 months, resulting in a U.S. death total to date of 47,681, and one of the worst death rates in the world, at 145.7 per 1 million population. https://www.realclearpolitics.com/coronavirus/

...along with the countless tens of thousands of Americans, and those around the world enduring loss in such a painful manner. This epic tragedy could have been minimized if sane leaders, who actually live in reality and believe in science, were leading our government, instead of the delusional zealots we’re currently saddled with. Thank you GOP, for exacerbating this horrific trauma that will change the world forever.
