It's ironic...

Had tRump actually acted quickly and listened to the advice of his scientific advisors, the medical field as a whole, the states of California & New York, literally every Democratic Governor, the list goes on and on, we could have saved thousands of lives. Not to mention all the jobs that could have been saved. Instead, he failed to listen to people that were specifically in charge to advise him on what to do, delayed recommending more states (red states) shelter in place, downplayed the virus after it had already killed thousands in China, and his inability to lead and get out in front of the virus, with adequate testing that states requested over and over, led to a prolonged shutdown of the economy; eventually erasing all the jobs he erroneously took credit for.

Had tRump actually seized this moment to step up and be presidential, he likely would have guaranteed himself a second term.

But now his approval rating is tanking, the economy could take a decade or more to fully recover, efforts to mitigate the spread of the virus resulted, instead, in the spread of false propaganda, alienating his on cabinet officials, and causing more pain and suffering - a disproportionate amount amongst the very people that voted for him. All of this has ensured that not only will it take longer before the virus is contained, if it can even be contained, but our country will be in an even worse position to handle future coronavirus waves because we still can't even get adequate testing done NOW, even in our major cities.

But the final piece of irony, that will be completely lost on this president, is that his most effective tool for communicating with his base, and the tool that he would have used to rally up the support needed to get him re-elected, has been rendered completely obsolete. All those rallies that tRump would have used to fire up his base are now a thing of the past. Had he acted sooner, who knows.

As it turns out the one entity tRump couldn't bully or fire, was the one that eventually took him down.

tRump will live out his years knowing he caused the death of thousands of people that could have been saved, if he had simply listened to people who literally told him what to do.

This pandemic was a gift to Trump politically, all he had to do was rise to the occasion, do the things anyone in their right mind would have done and he could have legitimately earned a second term.

Sadly, Trump is simply unable to do any better than he has. Lucky us.
