It's not the heat.
Australia's testing regime is well ahead of other countries such as the United States where 216,533 confirmed cases have been recorded and 5,139 deaths.
Unlike in Australia where testing is free and readily available, many in America are struggling to be tested for coronavirus.
American officials decided early not to use the test adopted by the World Health Organisation.

(31,261 posts)makes a difference. The person points to the low infection rate in Australia, totally ignoring low rates in colder South Korea and Taipai, or bad infection rates in warm Louisiana.
People in hot regions typically rely on AC more, particularly in the West. This fact could increase rates if people aren't careful and governments very proactive about locating and isolating infected people.
I explained to that person that Australia was one of the most agressive countries in the world at attacking the spread of the virus early on, unlike our national leader.

(20,815 posts)But not for at least a month or so. I'm pretty happy with the position we are in right now and cautiously optimistic that with widespread testing, a continuation of social distancing and (I'm looking at you, protesting Repubs) limitations on gatherings, we can, if not beat this virus, at least keep it contained.
